Worldwide Contest 2008

PlanetChristmas started it all with original World Wide decorating contest and did it again for 2008. The competition was stiff for being crowned "The World's Best!"

2008 had seven major categories.

Here were the 2008 contest rules for each category:

Computerized

Computerized Displays take the normally static Christmas light display and flashes those lights in some sort of pre-defined sequence. Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. See below for entry details.

Indoors

Indoor Displays can include anything under one roof. Whether it's Christmas villages or making your home a giant walk through display, don't limit yourself. Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. See below for entry details.

Inflatables

Inflatables Displays make maximum use of inflatables. Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. Outdoor Holiday Inflatables is helping with the judging. See below for entry details.

LEDs

"All LED" Displays are limited to people using only high efficiency, low energy consumption LEDs in their display. Doesn't matter whether it's indoors, outdoors, static or computerized, we want you to participate. One note of caution though... our seasoned judges can tell easily spot those incandescent lights in if you try to sneak some in... which is not recommended. Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. See below for entry details.

Most Creative

Most Creative Displays usually make you say something like "That's so incredibly cool!", "I would have never thought of that!" or "This is truly unique." If you have a display that is different than the rest, this is the category for you! Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. See below for entry details.

Newbies

Newbie Displays are limited to people setting up displays for the first time. Doesn't matter whether it's indoors, outdoors, static or computerized, we want you to participate. One note of caution though... our seasoned judges can tell a newbie display from one that's been around for awhile. Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. See below for entry details.

Over the Top

Over-the-Top Displays have more lights and special effects than you can count. These displays can be computerized and include inflatables. Judging is based on originality, Christmas spirit, contribution to the community and testimonials. The judges decision is final. See below for entry details.

How do you enter?

Send an email or regular mail describing your display, including pictures and/or video. Also include details of why your display is original, full of Christmas spirit and makes a real contribution to your community. Remember testimonials are important.

All entries must be received by December 20, 2008 at 11:59pm Central Standard Time. The judges will meet on December 21 and December 22 with the winners being notified and announced on PlanetChristmas.com no later than December 23, 2008. If the judges determine there is no one worthy of winning a specific category, no prize will be awarded.
