  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

TPI Kneeling Santa with Jesus

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have the TPI Kneeling Santa with Jesus in a BROWNcrib that didn't buy it at Menards? I was looking through the blow mold CD and only see photos of Jesus in a blue crib. I was wondering if maybe the brown crib was exclusive to Menards? As late as 2003 I saw Menards selling the brown and the blue cribs individually. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I realize this thread is 5+ years old, but I was working in the storage area and found the box that this set came in. I wish all of my molds still had their original boxes.

TPI has made so many nice blow molds. It is such a shame they are so rare and hard to find. wish they were still in business. There are so many TPI blow molds I'd love to have that I haven't been able to get my hands on (The Little Drummer Boy, Mrs. Claus, Santa/baby Jesus, several snowmen) :(

Bill,

I was just wondering how tall is the Santa in comparison to the baby?

I have one of the baby, just in case I ever find a Santa.

The Santa to this set is 27" tall.

Bill,

Thanks for posting the picture of the box, I think this is the first time I have seen that box. I agree and I also wish all of our molds had their original boxes, they not only look great but a lot of them have information on them that is not available anywhere else at this time.

We did not purchase the set like yours, we already had the Christ Child with the blue crib and we purchased the Santa from Tim Ewing several years ago. That Santa is in it's original box but it is only a plain brown box with a label with the information on it like TPI and UP did for so many of their blow molds.

Blair,

Thanks for pointing that out, I wonder how many color variations TPI made of that one.

The price of the one in that auction is a bit spendy at $39.99 plus $29.30 priority mail. They might be willing to send it by parcel post but it would still be more then I would want to pay for it considering the condition of the paint on the baby Christ Child.

I feel like I won the lottery! I found the kneeling Santa ( without the baby Jesus). He is going to look spectacular in my Nativity next year. Christmas 2015 can't come fast enough. :D

Interesting to note that Mel had replied that the cost in this thread for one of these was $39.99 plus shipping three years ago. Today these are selling regularly on Ebay between $75-$225.
