  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

PlanetChristmas is getting a face lift.

Did Animated Lighting Go Out Of Business Bankrupt?

Recommended Posts

Last June (yes 2014) I ordered four EL16s, and AL took my 50% deposit.  I began inquiring about the status of my order in July, and was told August, checked in with them in august and the we had production problems comment first came up, and then it went from there to a constant back and forth of we can send you two next week, and them never arriving.

Now, I'm trying to get in touch with them since I figured the Christmas rush was over.  Nobody answers the phone, nobody answers emails.  Is anyone able to get in touch with them?  Do they still exist?

Someone anyone, please help!

They have a pretty poor rating on the BBB website. If you look through the complaints, that were filed, you're not alone. Best of luck, getting your issue resolved.

I ordered AL in 2008 & used them that one season & dumped them right after Christmas & went with Lor.  Did you know that your AL controllers can be transformed into the Lor Protocol call?  I knew you  have been using AL for some time, even when you came on the old Canadian Christmas Forum a few times you were still using AL. I sure hope you get this resolved.

Welcome to the wonderful world of AL :(

Sorry to hear about this. Just keep on bugging him until he either sends you the product or refunds you.

In the meantime, I have some AL controllers I am looking to sell if you are interested?

AL is the worst company. I was going to use them last year and was ready to place an order, but the guy was so awful about it that I pulled my order and found out about LOR. Thank goodness!! I hope you are able to get a resolution to your problem. If they had my money I would call them everyday until I got someone or notified the BBB. Good luck with AL.

Animated Lighting has ALWAYS been TOTALLY non responsive.

Try Drew Hickman at Holiday Technologies.  He'll probably know something.  He used to work for AL and is pretty close in proximity to AL.

Drew can convert your AL Controllers to DMX  which will allow LOR to control them.

Good Luck!!

Can they be used in DMX mode?  If so... go that route.  Though... that doesn't solve OP's problem.

I had Drew convert 17 AL controllers for me three years ago and never looked back. Yes they do work in DMX mode. I ran 240 channels last season that way with no problems at all.

Just curious... I dont have any AL  but how hard was it for Drew to convert them so that lor could support it?

Not very hard that I know.he has to put new firmware on the controllers. The 30 amp models only support DMX the 15 amp support either LOR or DMX protocols.

I have 2 30 amp 16 channel models. I have in the past just bought my songs and sequencing from AL. Now I'm looking to go to something else, maybe some rgb's or pixels. I was wanting to try to use my models I have to run what I have but also be able to add on rgb controllers and make my own sequencing and pick my own music. I see I can have them converted. Where I'm at is if I had them converted, I would probably only use them a year or two while I build up my new setup. I'm not sure the price it cost to convert them or if it would even be worth it. I'm thinking that selling them would be the way to go and just start over. What do you guys think?

Less than 100 dollars to covert compared to 180-225 for a new controller. Plus they will run dmx so they could stay in your display for a long time.

Do you know the contact info for the guy that converts the animated lighting boxes I have? I think I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on it.
