  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

PlanetChristmas is getting a face lift.

although I have not been a collector very long, and as I have said in other posts I only collected to supply a few senior citizen neighbors with decorations that I can rotate between houses year after year and keep a fresh look. I guess I am fortunate to have picked up the 30 or so molds that I have now.

Big J, I am holiday/decoration poor!!! lol, between the neighborhood project, me buying every LED thats not nailed down, AND kicking off the zombie hoard thats gonna invade my yard in October......I am broke. But, Im sure that if you time it just right you will have no problem selling off a Nativity Scene. I need to follow your lead and start repainting some stuff, building mini trees, building mega trees, building arches, ............. ahhhhhhh heck with it, Ill do it tomorrow!:D

While it may be the end of GFP. There may still be some hope with Cado. Time will tell. Surely won't be any "new" molds anytime soon thoigh.

Lets hope someone comes in and buys the molds from GFP. I am sure CADO could do it.

I think we should all start contacting CADO/Union Products to contact GFP so they can settle a deal :-)

Cado and General Foam have already been in contact and only time will tell if anything will result from that.

So CADO would be the only possible company making them? If not, no more new blow molds?  Does that mean I can sell my 200 molds for 1,000,000 on EBAY? :)

It's the new lottery, Richard.  Blow Molding for Dollars!  Funny but sad at the same time.

Don't be so sad Ted.  I'm already plotting my life of crime.  This will be my new hobby to support my old hobby.  Now let's see, how many Shell Gas Stations  will it take to get some Polorons this week.  LOL!

True.  I guess I'll have to give up my plans, now that you have brought me back to sanity.  I was going to call myself "The Blow Mold Bandit" and wear a Santa Claus disguise.  My gun was going to be painted red and white like a candy cane.  Ho, Ho, Ho this is a stickup! Santa needs some new molds!
