  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

Union Majorette

Recommended Posts

Good Evening Everyone,

I was browsing Etsy today, and saw that someone is selling a pair of Union Soldiers (Major/Majorette).  I haven't seen a majorette for sale in my short time browsing the web, garage sales, and flea markets, so I thought it was quite interesting.  They are still for sale as of now in case you are interested!

Regards,

Tyler

Can you post a link to these?  We have had two pair of them in our collection for several years and they do not show up very often, I am just curious how much they are asking for them, I would never sell ours.  Union Products only made them for a very short time.

Thanks for the link, it works.  In my opinion the $72 price might be ok but the $48.10 shipping would kill any chance of a sale to me if I were interested in them.  From looking at the pictures and the description ours are in much better condition then the majorette.

Yeah, I was really interested in them, but the shipping cost added in kind of took the wind out of my sails for that to work. Hopefully someone finds it affordable and takes care of them, or the price drops. :)

Personally I think the shipping is way to high for two small 17" figures.  Possibly that is a priority mail price or they are using to large a box for them.

I have a couple of those smaller soldiers that are in pink uniforms.  (They are regular soldiers not the majorettes.)

I just saw this post. I actually bought these, saw them while searching on ETSY and had been looking for these a while. The price was a little higher than I wanted to pay but I decided to go for it. Not sure where you saw the high shipping, I saw on the item and  all I was charged was a little over $8.00 for USPS priority. Received them very quickly and they are in excellent shape. Merry Christmas!

You apparently are closer to the shipper then I am here in Washington state.  The shipping showed $48.10 to me.
