  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

Almost done.  Got a few windows to outline with the neon rope and some bugs to work out.  :)

Here is a quick video I took tonight.

Looks really good I like your big lights along the front of the lawn I had to watch some. Of your other YouTube videos some of the best video and sequencing quality I have seen. Using the deer like others use mini trees looks awesome. Great job.

Thanks.
I can't fully take credit for the sequencing. I started with premade Wowlights sequences and added to them.

It helps to have a buddy with a drone :)

Great display, are those strobes on the perimeter c9's or are they smaller? I've been searching for small ones for a few years now.

The perimiter bulbs are from Home Depot:

The white strobing lights are these: https://thechristmaslightemporium.com/products/5mm-pure-white-strobing-led-christmas-lights-50-bulbs-6-spacing

I just set those out tonight and now I want more of them.

I have four 16 channel LOR controllers as well as several DMX channels

I haven't tried to dim them.  I just set them on/off.  They blink immediately.  No warm up time.

I will try dimming them tomorrow and see what they do.

Something kind of cool happened tonight. One of my local news channels contacted me and then came out interviewed me and filmed the show. I'm kind of excited to see how it turns out

The segment on my house starts at the 50 seconds mark

You’re a Mean One Mister Grinch. No sound on video the FM transmitter is working though. I had intended to do more music but had a heart attack last Thursday and am about to have a quadruple bypass. God willing I will be back though next year. I have got a wealth of inspiration from the people who make these forums so great.

I finally got a decent picture what do you experts suggest I add next year? d863afef86e306f09a5fb04524baffff.jpg

Looks great! I love the way your windows are outlined very clean. That wreath is gorgeous!

By no means am i an expert but some things that could add are more density on the mega tree, finish up all those bushes in front, and maybe some up lighting on the house? Your display look fantastic keep at it!

I love it! I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but a couple easy things to do is add some floods for up lighting on the house, maybe do all the bushed in front, possibly the top of the roof if you're comfortable up there. Maybe even more density to the mega tree? That fence on the left could be a good opourtunity for something.

I really like the way your windows are outlined, very clean, and that wreath is gorgeous!

My display is about done, just few little things here and there.

Took a 360 video.  You can drag the screen around to see different areas of the show.
