Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

  • About my display
Have a small display probably 6,000 lights all leds.Added snowfall leds this year and won association home decoration contest. Now everyone in the neighborhood will be gunning for me next year.Have some stuff in mind for next year to blow them away again.I;m liking the cosmic color ribbon stuff. Not computerized yet either but thinking about it..
  1. Take a look in the for sale section i have a ton of lights to get rid of quick..
  2. I cant seem to find our deer figures for our sleigh display.I need to find 8 deer figures about 10in for the sleigh that has santa sitting on it.It sits on the ledge above the front door. Can anyone help me find somewhere to find something like this.Soon.
  3. Really no one can help me.I just want to activate my strobes for my stand alone tree every 15 min or so .I want this sparkle effect about every 15 min or so...I can find timers but none that will work for what i want..
  4. I need a good timer to activate my strobes every 15 min or so.Anyone have that kind of product.I just need a strobe effect every 15 min//Could use some help. Its in a stand alone tree .Just 2 cords with 12 strobes....
  5. If you use it what do you think of it?
  6. Yes the spt 2 plugs do work on spt1 wire i did a test on 1 of my 3 led wreaths i was making a 3 wire loom for all 3 i was just trying it out to see if it worked it does.I do understand spt1 plugs will not work for spt2 wire.I did order some of the spt1 plugs anyway just hope they get here next week.
  7. Finally we are in our new house.last year i purchased some spt1 wire from christmas light show but i forgot to get the plugs.I ordered some spt2 plugs thought i had spt 2 wire so i got the spt 2 plugs.I put these plugs on my spt1 wire and the 3 outdoor wreaths i was making the cords for work but should i get plugs for spt1 wire which i have or are the plugs the same and i can use the ones i have.just low draw led wreaths.what do you guys think?plugs do say spt2 on them.
  8. i bought the controllers a year ago with the software i assume its a older version. It will still work right i just need to update it to the s3 software or can i use it as is..with my current licenses.
  9. In the license what does 5 seat mean.Says doesnt support s3 does that mean i need the new software or upgrade. My home desk top with the LOR software crashed so can i download the software to my laptop supporting windows 7 using my current license code off the LOR website.I had the software on disc but we moved and i cant find it.Sorry for the stupid questions this is my first year computerized right now everything is static till i get hooked back up...
  10. yeah thats what i was thinking.I decided to go get the ones i found with just the long lights..I;ll put those on the side of the house and use the ones i have on the street side.Did find 2 more sets but i need at least 4 more..I think i;ll be ok..
  11. Anyone have a source for the Gemmy shooting star icicle lights.Thought i had enough but i measured wrong. These are the clear lights 11 ft long with the long and short icicles.Found some of just the long but i need the others to make the roof look right. If i cant find them i guess i;ll remove the ones i have for the upper roof.
  12. Been trying to find out if i can install the LOR software on my Mac Pro.No one from LOR has responded to my e-mails yet,and phone calls i get put on hold forever and finally get hung up on.Anyonw know if i can run it of mac or is it windows only?
  13. I have 26 4 ft emerald greens in the front yard of my house. Can i wrap those without any problems without killing them. These would be logical for mini trees so i guess the idea would be dont wrap too tight.I was thinking i;ll start one tree white leds then the next tree red leds then white red white red?I;ll try 2 strings on each and if they dont look good i;ll add more.Anyone here wrap the real trees? Why build fake ones when i have real in the yard.I;m sure the heat from the lights wouldnt do anything.
  14. Tried with 2 and i like the look a lot better more of a rounder look to the tree and i offset the uprights so it looks a ton better. Thanks guys..
