  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  1. rs485 LOR & Actidongle HC DMX

update: the Actidongle arrived. I plugged the HC dmx dongle into an open usb port while com port 3 had the LOR rs 485 booster already plugged into it. The driver auto installed. I went to network preferences and configured the new dmx dongle (Enttec, etc.). Lights on the dongle were on and flashing. Now I am waiting for the moving heads to arrive. The dmx signal terminator and the 3pin dmx cables, (not cat5), are already here. So far so good.

  5. rs485 LOR & Actidongle HC DMX

In this image from LOR it shows what I am trying to achieve. Is anybody using this method and are you using the Holiday Coro Actidongle to connect the moving head/dmx/usb in place where LOR shows the Enttec adapter?
  6. rs485 LOR & Actidongle HC DMX

I want to start with two moving heads. One above each garage door, mounted upside down, mostly under cover. But that's not what I want to focus on. I need to know if I currently have a LOR adapter coming out of com port3 on my show laptop, can I add actidongle out of show laptop com port (other) (4) to run the moving heads. At the same time? Both dongles plugged in to different usb ports from the laptop. Thank you Ross
  7. #LancasterPaLights 2017-2018

Laurel Avenue Lights in Lititz had Judy Pancoast Live last night to open their lighting season and her "House on Christmas Street" 2017 tour. I was looking for pictures and video of the event.
  8. Light Of Christmas

First video using iMovie. Multiple angles and views. Took a long time to edit the videos. I'm not trained in Mac but my kids are who are too busy... Even in HD, the video seems grainy in spots. Trying to figure that out. Enjoy and share please, thanks! Happy December! Merry Christmas!

  10. Trimming silence at beginning of sequence

Trim the song. Create a new sequence with the trimmed song. Copy & Paste the whole sequence from old to new minus the dead three seconds in the beginning. Save it, Compress it, Export it as Protected.
  11. 48+ channel

50 Kilowatt Tree by The Bobs ok I'll start...This sequence follows my rules of decorating not LOR's (It's a show, set it up any way you want). Copy and paste to your display as needed or use the whole thing. Can be used with less than 80 channels (5 controllers). It is unprotected so have fun with it! NUF" SAID...am I the only one with this song sequenced? If not, where is your video?
  13. I saw this song, The Light, on a facebook page of Lithgow Lights. I always look for something different to sequence. It took me 7 hours in LOR SE 4.2.12. I have 96 channels, 2-50w ccf's and 200 CCB's.
  14. CCB Arches

This element is a BIG HIT this year. Many compliments so far. Just had to remember to up my LOR Network Preferences speed to 115.4k so all the details of sequencing showed up!!! Merry Christmas!
