  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  • About my display
My display is not animated but has grown over the years to be candy cane red and green everywhere. I have added an American flag which people take pics of every year...
I have not made a page for xmas at my website but you can see what I do for Halloween.
  1. switch from c7 to led

thank you for the quick response. I thought I looked all over home depot's site. They make LED lights that screw in, interesting, but at $1 each, that adds up when you are talking about 400ft. I was hoping the cheaper led strands that you pull the light in out might have the same setup somewhere but your idea would work. I would just cry every time a kid unscrewed a light and ran off with it.
  2. switch from c7 to led

Hopefully I have posted in the correct area, I have searched all over looking for answers so I thought I would try here. My display has 4 100ft c7 strands going around my yard. I bought the strands without any lights in them and I bought boxes of red and green lights and I put 2 red lights and 2 green light alternating across the entire strands. It has become a trademark of my display. The wire is getting brittle after hard winters in Ohio and now I am wanting to switch over to LED lights doing the same thing and now I have questions. What size led lights light up the same as a C7 light bulb? Can I buy strands without the lights in them and buy just red and green led lights to put in the stands? I have not been able to find any solutions or stores selling anything like that. I know I can buy a red string and a green string and switch the led's around but my experience is the LEDs are harder to work with then the screw on bulbs. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
