  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  • My favorite Christmas story
Christmas 2012...My grandmother had already been very ill and we knew it wouldn't be much longer before she went to be with our Lord. Our family decorated the house in all vintage decor, including a silver tree with the color wheel! We put up vintage christmas cards on the mantle and played only the oldies Christmas classics.

  1. Large Chapel Blow Mold

Hello again. Though I'm not personally able to decorate as I live in an apartment, I've really enjoyed looking around the site at some of the amazing items😁🎄 AsI listed a few days ago, we've been given the task of clearing out a family member's garage. I have several blow molds that we need to sell. I've posted on eBay & CL. Biggest issue is shipping, especially the church! Does anyone have any advice as how to pack these items. I feel very concerned that since they are plastic they could get damaged during shipping. And I'm really not sure how someone can ship this giant church for $ 15. I've attached a few photos of the items I'm trying to sell Any advice or if anyone is interested please let me know. We really need to get this task finished. It's getting very cold here and we even saw a few snowflakes today!
  2. Empire Santa in Box

Other than what's on the front this the only other markings I I could find. Oh well, thanks for the efforts😊 We have to get this and the rest of the treasures on eBay or CL or somewhere so they can be sold no one in the family wants them and we are apartment dwellers so can't use them either i know nothing about them but apparently we have some that people want, lol. Candy corns, a large chapel.. wish me luck shipping these
  3. Empire Santa in Box

Thank you, Ted. I found the image but there was no information available. Also, looks like this one is missing some of his eye details.
  4. Empire Santa in Box

I hope I'm in the right place. My MIL is moving so we are cleaning out all the nooks and crannies. Found this Empire Santa in the box today. I've Googled and can't find him. Does anyone know about what year he is? He is marked Empire on the base but box has no name. Stands about 33" tall. We are selling stuff off and I'd like to offer some information in my listing.

Recently acquired some outdoor Christmas decorations that I'm wanting to sell. I haven't been able to find this anywhere so guessing it's rare. It works perfectly and is a sturdy piece. There is some yellowing from the sun and some scuff marks. I have additional photos if you'd like. Located in NW Indian about 90 minutes from Chicago. I could ship but it's quite heavy so buyer to pay all shipping.

  6. Hello, all! I just acquired some Christmas decorations that I'd like to sell. I've tried to find this on eBay with no success so thought I'd try here. I also have blowmolds if anyone is interested. I'm in NW Indiana about 90 minutes from Chicago. Any help in the best place to list this and a fair price is appreciated. Oops! I'm sorry. I realize now that I posted this in the wrong place
