  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  • Biography
I've been addicted to decorating for many years. The lights are just so much fun. It all began with 6 strands of lights that my mother bought for me to put on the house at the age of 14. I remember how excited I was. The hard part was taking them down after New Years.

Now 20 years later, I found the Planet Christmas sight and also the famous video of "Wizards in Winter." I thought, I could do it to. So this year I went Computerized!!! 17,150 lights. with 64 Channels and what fun it's been.
  • Interests
Love working out and physical fitness. I've lost over 85# in the past year + ! I've never felt better. I also enjoy learning languages. I've become very good with speaking Spanish.

Other hobbies include construction, landscaping, and beer!

  • About my display
Every year, I've added just a few more elements to my display. And, November 2007, I never imagined I would go over-the-top. I started making plans for 2008. This year I started using LOR with 64 channels. I didn't use any static elements in the display, but being my first year, it was big enough.

I have 6 mini trees + 4 spiral trees all with different colors. 8 reindeer on the roof. And every window has 2 color of lights wrapped around them. Along with 1 wreath that lights with the window. Also, I have 2 colors of I/C Lights on the upper and lower roof lines. And, 1 giant wreath at the peak of the house.

So my neighbors think I'm crazy, but they loved the display this year. Next year, I plan on doubling the my LOR to make it 128 Channels. It's just going to get bigger every year :D
