  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

I started decorating the outside of my house when I was 12. Ever since then I have been adding on to the display. Every year something new was decorated. As I have gotten older it has been bigger and bigger additions.

  3. Blow Mold Replacement lights

I have found the easiest thing to do with Lowe’s is to purchase online and pick up in the store. They will either ship it to the store and hold it or they will pick it out of their shelves and hold it for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. blow mold soldiers at Lowes

Yes they are the Made in China types. They also had individual Mickey and Minnie blowmolds. I picked them up because I am a huge Disney fan. I wish Disney had licensed them to GF instead of another company. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Here are the Mickey and Minnie Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. PVC Candy Canes

A toilet flange will work. I use the combination of a toilet flange and a 3/4in piece of pvc that is inside of the 3" pvc. The inside piece is attached to the outside piece using "U" bolts and then the inside pvc is sled over a piece of rebar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. Securing 10' 3" PVC Poles

How hard would it be to take the bottom lights off and put them back on? What I have done with my arch is I drive cement rebar that is 3/4in into the ground about a foot and a half with two feet sticking out. I then attached a 3/4in piece of sch40 pvc pipe to the inside of my 4" pvc pipe. I use two U-bolts, one at the bottom, one at the top. It can be difficult with 4" pvc pipe so I know it will be difficult with 3" but I am sure it can be done with some patience. I slide the 3/4" pvc pipe that is inside the arch leg over the rebar and I have had no issue. If you want extra protection, the rebar like I mentioned by also put toilet flanges on the bottom of your arch legs. Lay a piece of 2x6 on the ground parallel to your driveway with it centered as much as possible on the rebar. Drill a hole in the 2x6 that will fit the rebar through it. Make sure that the hole you drilled it centered in the board so when you slide it over the rebar and then place the arch on it, you have room to screw the toilet flange to. You will need to use washers to attached the flange to the board and the pvc pipe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk If you want, send me a private message and we can work out a way to talk.
