  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  1. So I was given a pretty old Animated Light setup awhile back and just started messing with it. I'm playing around with it on the bench, and I can get lights to flash from the show card, but the MP3 card doesn't seem to want to work. (there are 7 audio files on the card) There are dials on the front and back of the Monster Box. The one on the front says "Show" and has options for 0-9 and A-F. The one on the back says A0 and has the same number/letter options. Could it be that the dials are incorrectly set? I've been trying various combinations and resetting the unit each time, but haven't found the right combo to make the audio output work yet. I looked on Animated Lighting's website, but it just says the unit is no longer supported. I would contact them, but from what I have read, they are difficult to communicate with, so I figured I'd try here first. If I can get this to work, I'm going to set it up at my in-laws house for them. Thanks John
  2. Hello all, glad I found this great resource for Christmas lighting. Always wanted to do a nice lighting show, even small for my house, but always worried about the cost and all electronics involved, not knowing how to start, but doing something other than just hanging a couple of light robes in my house was always appealing, , then I got myself a Animated Lighting set, that I was told was all I needed, didn't ask much and let my excitement lead me into buying it, and now I'm lost, I have the basic idea of how it works and how to use it, but I'm still lost on some of it, here is a list and pictures of what I got, both pieces come in a enclosure, on one side on the enclosure I have what i believe is a controller, it has 16 power outputs, and 2 to power it, on the other side I have the Monster Brain (Circuit Board) and this is where my questions are, I have a slot for a SD card and one card called Christmas Kit V1.1, my questions are: Where do i find the audio output? How can I get more of this Christmas cards? How can i make my own? Can maybe someone out there sell me a SD card with more (after i figure out how to set it up? Can someone maybe provide me a manual? Trying to do this without using all my kids gifts money! is it possible? Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

  5. Controller Help Needed

I am running A.L. monster brain and controllers hooked up to digital timers. Controllers turn on by timers 5 minutes before monster brain turns on also by timer. Two controllers for 16 ch shows 1 for singing reindeer face and 1 for mega tree/leaping arch shows. Half way thru shows leaping arch controller doesn't work and later 16 ch controllers don't work. If I by pass timers everything works as it should. This just started last weekend. Any ideas theories on what is going on? Bad timers? I checked programming on timers and all seems to be correct.
  6. Hi All, I am getting out of the Christmas lighting due to Work/time constraints and will be selling off all of my controllers. I have 4 ELC-16-30 amp boxes and 5 ELC-16-15 amp boxes. I also have a second gen Monster Brain with the integrated MP3 player. I also have approx 20 strands of C6 led lights (70/per strand) in the following colors(pure white, green, red, and blue) with green cords. and a ton of G12 raspberry LEDs. All boxes are functional with very little use. Send me a pm if you are interested in any of this gear.
