  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  1. I used two of the three rings, and intend on making a couple other combinations next year. The preset lights are black duct-taped to the rings, and I was able to space a set of 24 lights around one ring fairly evenly. 2 sets total. I thought about trying it around the first week into December and then attached it to the line with a separate power cord. There is a color-change led flood in the background. Taping lights uniformly in place around the rings provides a lighted geometric platform. I need to experiment with wrapping loose lights around one of the frames with uniform taped lights. Each ball contains 200-250 led and incandescent mix lights depending on the ball.
  2. Hi, We bought this Santa new about 15 yrs ago at an Eckerd Drug Store. We actually bought it after Christmas and only paid about $50.00 on clearance. I always thought it was a good deal but i have heard it was a great deal as it has become somewhat collectible. We have had this Santa in our front yard every year thru our kids growing up. in fact we were known as the Santa house and there were nights where there would be a line of cars around our cul-de-sac for kids to see the Singing Santa. our kids are now grown and off at college but the Santa is still part of our tradition. But that is not really pertinent I guess. But a couple of years ago he started not wanting to wave. I could hit reset and give him a nudge and he would carry on usually for the rest of the night. Then last year he just stopped moving his head and arm. I did all the normal things. But it seems Gemmy just has no interest in helping me fix my old friend. I just can't bare to toss him out. So I am here hoping someone can help me Get Ole Saint Nick moving again! I have taken him partially apart and the first thing i found was what looks like a Ground wire that was just hanging loose. I have included pictures. If anyone can help me i would be very grateful!
  3. Gemmy Ferris wheel belt

Any body know where to get a new gemmy ferris wheel belt? Or what is the best way to tighten one.
  4. Hello Everybody, I am a newbie to Planet Christmas and want to say that everyone has done such a great job on their displays! The problem I am having is with my Gemmy Christmas Tree Light Show that I purchased in 2010. The tree isn't lighting, and after some research I tested the voltage through the transformer with a multimeter, finding that the transformer was all but dead. I tried looking around the net for an outdoor transformer that could replace the old one, but I am unable to find a suitable replacement. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what transformer could replace the one that does not work, the blown transformer reads as follows: AC-AC Adaptor Class 2 Transformer for Outdoor Use Model : KMUA-240-05000-66UL INPUT : 120V-60Hz 570mA OUTPUT : 24V-50VA Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

  6. Help! Gemmy mp3 to mono

I have a Gemmy light show controller box and I want to have my own music but I'm having troubled converting my mp3 to mono with using audacity. I open audacity and import my mp3 file and then click stereo to mono and I listen to it afterwards and it sounds like bunch of bass and can't really hear the words being sung. Please could someone help me out and point me in the right direction.
