  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

  1. 1st time posting, hope you like. We are using LOR controllers, synced to music. We are located in Silver Spring, MD christmas_2017.MOV
  2. LOR and Cat5

Ok,I have a big problem with my controllers--for the second time this season. Twice I've had to replace CAT5 ,with brand new cables--both in the exact same box and position. That suggests to me that the problem is with the RJ45 jack in the Showtime controller(3rd Generation) What says the mob?
  3. Good morning all: I am running this purchased sequence (Holiday Sequences.com) on the latest LOR software for 16 CCR on a PIXIE 16D - V2. Clicking on the .lms file launches the LOR Sequence Editor v4.3.24 Pro. When I click "play" nothing happens on my tree except for a couple of pixels at the base of channel one flickering. Everything else is dead. Any help would be greatly appreciate. (Note - All ribbons checkout except for #5 which appears to be defective and displays no lights)
  4. De Virgin Mary had a baby boy by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. 80 channel LOR system. Sequenced by me.10300ish lights
  5. 80 channel LOR system. Sequenced by me 10300ish lighs
  6. My wife and I have a 48 channel LOR system, using three CTB16PC controller boxes. We use an FM transmitter to broadcast the music, and run a single show consisting of about 14 songs, and some nice "Station ID's" for the radio station. We're both busy people. Don't have the time, patience, or desire to do my own sequencing. Our show consists of sequences purchased from LOR and a couple of other folks. The only ones I've done myself are the sequences for the "Station ID's" which are either :30 or :60 seconds long. Most sequences in our library are either 16 or 32 channel shows. Most also are protected, and cannot be edited. That leaves my third controller, channels 33-48 with very little to do. I'd like to "clone" that controller--and make it mirror channels 1-16. Basically, turn that controller box into an extension--so that I can reduce the length and number of extension cords, etc. This doesn't seem to be possible to do--but then again, LOR appears to be created for engineers-so I may be missing something. Can anyone help out a newbie? I'd be forever grateful! Les & Abby Rayburn Alabaster, AL
  7. Newby

Okay I am new to this now I know I want to buy an Lor starter pack which starter pack will be best I don't want to buy something now and then wish I would have got something better later would it be the residential or the pro series that you would prefer somebody just getting started. I know once I start I will be addicted and will continue to grow
  8. Hi All PC'ers I'm still in the market for a CTB16PC controller in good condition. It can be built or still in kit form. Please send me an IM if you have something in mind. Thanks! Lightman
  9. CCR Backlight Issue

Has any user of the CCR tree had any issues with items behind the tree being illuminated. Does this tree need to have a very dark BACKGROUND to be effective. I see some decorators are draping black plastic or plywood behind their tree. Is this necessary? Thanks to all comments in advance!
  10. CCR Backlight Issue

Has any user of the CCR tree had any color with items behind the tree being illuminated. Does this tree need to have a very dark BACKGROUND to be effective. I see some decorator are draping black plastic or plywood behind their tree. Is this necessary. Thanks to all comments in advance!
  11. I have 4 CTB16D V5 controllers for sale. Fully functional. They are currently updated to firmware 4.32. I used them last year successfully on a DMX network. One of the controllers have the MP3 Player Light Show Director mounted in the case. I have not ever used the director so don't know if it needs firmware update or what it's status is. I'm just trying to thin out all the controllers that I currently have. I'm wanting to get $150 each for them plus shipping unless you can pick them up (located in Bellevue, NE). I'll be posting them within a few days on eBay but thought I would list them here first. Let me know if you are interested in any of them?
  12. Moving and have to sell. I loved these singing Christmas trees and hate to part with them and worse - break them down. They are mounted on 2 (8 x 4) pieces of plywood. All set up. We will include 7 (editable) LOR sequences. Would like $500 to cover 2 LOR units / 28 strings (mixed Incandescent and LED) and 4 flood lights- but will take a reasonable offer. Sorry - way too big to ship. We are near Lancaster PA (an hour from Philly and a few hours from Baltimore, DC and NYC). Otherwise - we are driving south in 2 weeks with a moving truck. Might be possible to meet off of 95 to deliver - but only if price is right. Email or text if you are interested in purchasing in whole (christmasmarket@comcast.net) text 610-496-5915. See the video below:
  13. 10 LOR units for Sale

Moving and need to down size all 10 LOR units.... Please see the attached pictures. Note the first picture is the front and the very next picture is the inside. Two are missing as they are still attached to 4 singing faces (Christmas trees) All are in working condition as they were all in our show last year- We would like $180 each but willing to take less if you are willing to buy in quantities. We are in the Lancaster PA area if want to see them. Also driving south (moving to FL) and could possibly arrange a meeting time to drop off the units. Please email with any questions (christmasmarket@comcast.net) Thank you!
  14. I am looking for a used 16 channel controller. Either Lynx Express, LOR or other. Can someone point me in the right direction?
  15. I have three Easy Light Linker's (single) for sale. Asking $25 each for them.
  16. Hi, I purchased some pre-made sequences from holidaysequences.com I have standard LOR SuperStar (not Xlights or something else) program. I am running just 12 CCRs and a 6 channel star. I have the controller set-up working and running an older show (on an older version of software), so I know it has something to so with my updated software. I have asked Holidaysequences.com and just hadn't heard from them yet, but I was hoping someone might be able to suggest a video on youtube or have some simple directions on what to do after i downloaded the file and hopefully all of the way to creating a show. I searched the LOR website and well it is a bit overwhelming and haven't found specifically what I was looking for and I am hoping someone out there might just have what (hopefully) is just the simple info I need. Thanks in advance! Craig
  17. Looking for next year

I'm new to the scene and finding out more and more and a lor is definitely something I am going to get into. I need all the info I can get. Mainly which one do I need. Starting out small with arches and progress yet after year. So I'm not looking for a monster machine. Looking to do arches with music. Is the starter set what I need or is something else preferred?
  18. Hi! I am fairly new to LOR and I bought a 12 CCR display a few years back. I have yet to start designing on my own, but I have purchased a few new sequences this year. My problem is that I have got the sequences in Sequence Editor, and when I go to add the media file from my hard drive that I downloaded it to, the whole program locks up at "analyzing media"! I have been able to merge a few songs and sequences, but not all that I have bought. I can hear my songs when I play them independently, but the program won't progress past the first 1/3 of the little progress bar. Is Windows 10 an issue? Any help would be appreciated ! Craig
  19. I recently purchased a 16 strand sequence for my rgb tree. It came with a .sup and a .lms file. I am trying to add this to an existing sequence in LOR, but cant figure out how. I have the latest up to date pro software license and superstar license with only 2 CCR. The .lms file i have i am not familiar with the layout. It is like sequencing rgb in the sequence editor rather than pixel editor. Each rgb is broken out and not grouped. I tried grouping them and naming them a prop like i have in pixel editor, but no use. I can open it in superstar but cannot export it due to only having 2ccr license. I would rather not purchase. $170 license for this one sequence, but i cant figure out howto get this in my existing sequence. Existing sequence uses 32 channels regular and 32 universes of rgb. Any help appreciated.
  20. Dead Channel?

Hello all! At the end of last year, I noticed that one of my channels (channel 2) would not turn on and is always off. I didn't think much of it (silly me!) and set the controller up in the yard again this year. The channel still doesn't work. I can't get it to turn on. I know people have triac issues, and can't get theirs to turn OFF. I reset the board today, and still no luck. Any ideas? I don't have a large load on it-only 1 strand of C6 LED lights. Thanks!
  21. I have a CCR that is brand new that I would like to sell. Asking $225 shipped.
  22. Hey everyone. Does anyone know where to go to create the signature banner image that so many people have with their LOR light/channel count? Thanks!!
  23. CCB Arches

I'm just sharing this in case you want to read it. I am adding two larger arches to my display this year. After countless evenings viewing the light show last year, It was decided to add CCB arches on the right side of my show. I purchased four ten foot pieces of 1" pvc (THIN WALL 200PSI stuff) at Lowe's. Home Depot did not carry it in my area. The thin wall stuff is more flexible. I glued a one inch UNION on the pipe ends so I can take apart the two ten foot sections for storage. After the glue dried for a day, I attached two sections together for 20 feet. I hammered, three foot rebar, 3/8", into the ground vertically (plum). I placed the pipe on the rebar and bent the arch over to get an idea of the distance the legs should be apart. I settled at eleven feet apart. Which gave me a seven foot high arch. I took one of my CCB LOR strands and used Holiday Coro's Bulb Mounting Strip to mount the bulbs (easy, peasy)! Then I placed the mounted bulbs at the top of the arch at the UNION, between bulb 25 and 26. I zip tied the mounted CCB's and ended up with too much pipe at either end exposed. So I cut one foot off of each end leaving one foot above the ground to the first bulb for snow and so the local dogs do not pee on my expensive bulbs. So 18 feet is the final pipe length giving an arch of six feet high, eleven feet wide. The bulbs will be mounted in a vertical or upright position and removed each year for storage. Don't want to break these babies! Good Luck with your arches. Ask any questions and have a great season!
  24. Newbie With Vixen

Hello, This is my first year doing a Christmas light show! I’m using a simple controller with 16 mechanical relays powered by Arduino and Vixen. Pretty basic, but good for this year. I have almost all my sequencing done (very time consuming :P) and the controller built. I have some questions for pros and LOR users. Next year, I would like to switch to LOR (32 channel with 1 CCR Tree). Do you think LOR is worth it (during summer and mad grab sales)? Is there a easy way to convert my Vixen sequences to LOR, and add on to them? Is LOR easier than Vixen? Also, do you think the Whole House FM Transmitter is good? I hear a lot of great things about it and I’m almost about to purchase it. Thank you so much!!!
