re-PLUS 2009
Friday Evening for a Cruise

The re-PLUS 2009 gathering might officially be only on Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 10:00am to 5:30pm but we've arranged for some extracurricular activities to make sure no one gets bored.  The fun starts Friday evening.

The Belle of Louisville!

Stare at a map and you'll quickly see a huge body of water next to Louisville.  It's the Ohio River and is fully navigatable by commercial barge traffic.  That also means it's a great place for those gigantic riverboats we read about in school.

The re-PLUS "pre-event" activity includes a Friday night riverboat cruise on the Belle of Louisville.  Assuming the weather is nice, we're meeting at the dock (Fourth Street Wharf on the Ohio River and right behind the Galt House hotel) at 6:30 pm.  It's really easy to find.  From the front door of the Hyatt, turn right, head for the river and walk eight minutes.  From the Galt house, turn right at the front door, head for the river and be there in one minute.  If you're at the Marriott, head for the Hyatt, turn right, head for that river and you're there in nine minutes.

If you want to be part of a leisurely walk from the Hyatt to the Fourth Street Wharf, meet up at the front door of the Hyatt at 6:15 pm.

Just because the re-PLUS event is free doesn't mean riverboat cruising is the same.  We're going Dutch so everyone pays their own way.  You'll purchase your ticket from the harbor master at the dock.  $17 adult, $16 for seniors, (60+), $9 for children (3-12) or free for the newbies (2 and younger).  Snacks and beverages are sold separately on-board ship.  We'll be back at the dock by 9:00pm.

(This is also a dinner cruise for the really hungry and those that want the experience of fine dining while on a fancy riverboat but you should order these special tickets 24 hours in advance directly from the Belle of Louisville.  Most of us won't be eating on this trip though, but you certainly have the option..)

What if the weather is really terrible?  We'll meet in the lobby of the Hyatt and figure out what to do next.
