Coffee at Starbucks |
Chuck Smith |
If you're an early riser (Louisville is on
Eastern time), meet Chuck at the Starbucks, just across Jefferson
Street from the Hyatt (221 South Fourth Street). Start the day
out right. If you're a bit intimidated by the strange language
spoken at coffee shops, try saying "tall bold no room" which means a
small cup of coffee, bold flavor with no room for cream or sugar.
It's Chuck's favorite! |
| 9:30 |
Registration |
|
We open the doors for registration.
Nothing fancy. You'll add your name and email address to an
ongoing list on a clipboard and use a big marker to create your
stick-on name badge.
Registration is running higher than anticipated so we recommend
arriving early in order to score a good seat. |

Light Set Repair |

Why is it the phrase "when one light goes out
the rest stay on" seems to apply to everyone in the universe but
you? Pick up some tricks in this session. |

Drive through Light Parks |
David Fred |
We've all driven through these Christmas light
parks. You typically pay $10 per car and drive a long route
taking you by leaping reindeer, toy shops and finally through the
dazzling light tunnel. These light parks might look easy to
do but nothing could be further from the truth. They're a lot
of hard work but the rewards for your community can be most
impressive. |

Lunch |
|
We're going to walk half a block down to Fourth
Street Live and hit the food court. Your treat! Don't
worry. There's plenty of restaurants no matter if you're into
fast food or want to sit down for some fine dining. |
| 1:15 |
Wireframes |
Val Picheur |
Wireforms, wireframes, silhouettes or bent wire
with lights attached... most of us know what you're talking about.
It might look easy but it's a bit more complicated than you think.
Attend this class and learn from the experts how to make unique
wireframes that will amaze your viewers. |
| 2:15 |
Blowmolds |
Carrie Sansing |
Into blowmolds? We have the absolute
authority among us. Not into blowmolds? You will be
after watching Carrie Sansing's presentation. Prepare to be
impressed! Who knew there were more blowmolds than what you
could buy at Wal-Mart? There is a huge group of blowmolders that
take their collections very seriously and want to share the passion
with others. Come join the crowd and learn from the best. |
| 3:15 |
Megatrees |
Darryl Brown |
We've all seen the big Christmas trees made with
just lights. There's one in Stillwater Oklahoma that's 85' high, on
a hill and can be seen from surrounding counties. Now that's a
Megatree! There are many ways of building these eye-catching
wonders and they always impress. Learn the pros and cons of the
different techniques and determine what's right for your display. |
| 4:15 |
The Beer House Story and going Pro |
Carson Williams |
Remember that house on all the beer commercials
back in 2005? The one with all the Christmas lights flashing to
Wizards in Winter?
Check here if you were
living in another country at the time. Our very own Carson Williams was the guy doing all the magic.
Carson will share his story and prove or disprove any
myths that are floating around about him. |

Showing Off |
Everyone |
Between classes and whenever we can work in some
spare time, the fancy digital projector and sound system will be turned
over to you. If you have a laptop, feel free to plug in and
do some showing off of your Christmas display. Keep in mind
this is a two way street. Not only will you be showing off
what you're proud of but you'll be snagging some great ideas from
seeing how others decorate. |

Celebration! |
Everyone |
Follow Chuck back down the street to Fourth
Street Live. The atmosphere will be very different from what
you saw during lunch. The street is closed to vehicles and you
can just walk around. Get ready to have fun! |

Not into sequencing lights to music?
There's an alternative. Lite Driver (the company) has products
that flash the lights based on what it hears. Hear about
