3 Shawn Solinko, Notice the rich colors in these Christmas lights
and the bright sparkly? It isn’t a photography trick or
photoshop touch-up; These are LED lights. The color is much
richer and shines brightly on the surrounding surfaces. We’ve
been hanging Christmas lights on this home for years and
recently made the switch to LED, and boy are we glad we did!

Chris Palmer, This was my first attempt of our
Synchronized Christmas light display at our home in
Katy, Texas. We even used a FM transmitter to make the
experience even better and was a HUGE hit in our
neighborhood and even made the local news. For our first
set up we used a 16 channel light controller that we
bought as a kit and built ourselves and included an FM
transmitter so that everyone could enjoy the shows from
the comfort of their own vehicle. We have plans in the
making for an even bigger and better show! Katy Texas

Greg Zimmerman, http://www.ZimChristmas.com/

MUSIC, MOTION, AND MERRIMENT – – Newport Beach,
California is home of the annual “Christmas Boat
Parade”, known as one of the ten best Christmas viewing
events in the country. This award-winning house, located
on Balboa Island in the middle of the Newport Harbor, is
viewed by thousands of visitors who came by car, by
foot, and by boat!

No wonder so many people stop to gaze at the lighted
wonderland. There is animated action galore. While
Christmas carols play in the background, “snow” drifts
from the rooftop dispensed from a manufactured snow
machine. On the rooftop, Santa waves from a chopper with
rotating blades and a gingerbread man jumps on a lighted
trampoline. Lighted wheels rotate on a choo-choo train;
a tin soldier drums his drums; a snowman tips his hat; a
gyrating Santa Claus dances; and even an illuminated
Hula Dancer’ wiggles back and forth!

The house is anchored on one side by an eye-stopping 25
foot green blinking Christmas tree. On the other side
the eight foot wide chimney is draped in a carpet of red
lights inter-mixed with white lights that vertically
spell “Balboa Island”. Blinking candy canes, stockings,
bells, and snowflakes all add to the fun. There are
24,000 light bulbs in all

kids with “The Georgetown Project” charity. Thousands of
lights, thousands of switches and one over zealous elf.

6 years ago! This new show is called “Elements” and
features stunning and vivid RGB floodlights that
transform the facade of this historical building into a
plethora of dancing color. Naturally, we started with
light, but in future years, we plan to add other
elements into the production including water, fire, and
air. Videos of our summer fun songs are available on our

Melissa Eberly Our Christmas Lights dance to the music that is
broadcast on your car radio station on 89.7 FM. We are located
in Reading, PA.  Our 35,000 lights are controlled by DMX
dimmer packs along with modified versions of the Light-O-Rama
control boards. The low speed op-amps and triacs have been
replaced with more robust SCRs along with the Light-O-Rama
communication protocol abandoned for a faster DC3 DMX
communication interface. This allows us to transmit information
and control lights almost 20 times faster than Light-O-Rama
software. Every string you see is actually 4 independent strings
of white, red, green, and blue which allows us to create almost
any color with RGB color mixing. Most of our lights are
incandescent in favor to their linear fading properties.
Programming each song can take from a few hours to days
depending on the level of complexity. All the electricity needed
for our show comes from solar energy gathered from solar panels
on our roof, stored in batteries in our basement and converted
to 240VAC by an 8,000 watt true RMS inverter for usage during
the show. Our lights will operate even during a power outage.
Besides why not go green, right?Photos don’t do this light display justice, to see it in person
will amaze you and will leave you speechless! Reading Pa United

Thomas Steiner Nothing but blow molds! This is Thomas and Doreen
Steiner’s 2011 Disney’s Christmas Display in Huntington, IN.,
located just five blocks from the Huntington County Courthouse.
We have been decorating our yard with lights for 47 years.
Although I don’t run a computerized display and don’t really
plan to, there are still some elements of control to everything.
We have around 500 lights and 50 different blow molds for this
year. New this year in our 2011 Disney’s Christmas Display is
the 40″ Taz. We cut way back on lights due to the economy this
year, and just went with 500 mini lights and all blow molds this
year. We also cut way back on lighting for 2011 due to spending
more time with our lovely granddaughters, Autumn, 5 years old
and Rae Rae, 2 years old and our cute grandson, JJ, who is 5
years old. We have 1201-plus blow molds, but we don’t use all
1201 in our display. We change the blow molds around each season
to make the display look differently. We have been featured in
The Post & Mail newspaper, Columbia City, IN and The Huntington
Herald-Press newspaper, Huntington, IN. We love what we do best
for the community of Huntington, IN. Please check us out on the

67 Carolsue Daigre A Christmas Wonderland. We have been doing Christmas displays for our kids for 20 years.
After our first grandson was born, I started really getting into
making and designing our displays. In November 2011, our
grandson Jason asked for a Chirlie Brown Christmas display. So,
this year I added the Peanut Gang, a letter to Santa (from
grandsons, Jason and Sonny) and Gingerbread Man. Over half of my
display is handmade by me. I love drawing, cutting, and painting
the wooden characters. You know you’ve done something right,
when your grandson, says its “Magical”. We welcome all, to drive
by and see our display and listen to the Christmas music. You can
drive by during the day Its just as beautifull. Our 1881 Queen
Anna Victorian home provides a great backdrop for our display

93 Nikitas Smaragdis Nikitas Christmas Wonderland 2011 Has
Arrived.  Welcome to Christmas 2011 – Our new addition that
I built this year is the “Snowflake Factory”. The Snowflake
Factory is where all the world’s snowflakes are created and sent
out to fill all the clouds in the world to deliver snow to
everyone. It has a staff of Snowmen manning all the critical
production areas. The snowflake process starts with the freezers
where the ice is made and stored and lifted by the crane to the
Snowflake Press assembly line where the ice is stamped and
formed into snowflakes. Once the snowflakes are created they are
loaded onto the elevator where the final snowflakes are vacuumed
up and blown to the clouds by the Snowflake Control. Some fun
facts for this year’s display are, it took 311 man-hours to
setup, this year’s light count is now at 63,601 lights, with 107
various lengths of extension cords that total to 3038 feet of
extension cords. We still have our previous displayed wood
constructed pieces such as the Santa’s Castle that stands over 9
feet tall, the Bi-Polar Spa for Penguins and Polar Bears,
Kringle’s Bakery, Santa’s Toy Factory, the Gingerbread House and
the Santa Train. Last year we raised $550 for the Hemby
Presbyterian Children’s Hospital in Matthews, North Carolina.

Picture Description
101 Michael Prince I started out for a formal white lights
Christmas. My house sits on a corner, so one side has the white
lights, the front patio a traditional mixed colors and the same
with the other street side. This is my first year & first house
in 20 some years. I didn’t do the second story or the roll up
garage door.
I used a lot of mini lights, a few LED blue lites, mini-shrub
lights, a few colored flood lights, and just a few round bulbs.
I have a mechanical deer, a deer and sleigh, two small decorated
trees, and three joy signs. I also added music which I play from
2 pm until 7 pm, just loud enough to be heard from my front
patio to the side walk, because we have a lot of people who get
out and exercise and go for walks, go get their school kids, and
slow drivers looking. I tried to use instrumental music for the
religious songs, and vocal for the kids Santa Claus songs. I
also put in a small display on the back patio by the pool. I
will be hosting Christmas dinner, so they will have a view from
my two dinning rooms. Next year I am going to kick it up a Watt
or two, by doing the second floor, one whole side of the house,
five birch trees, more shrubs, and I will top my balled birch
trees with just three, 3′ diameter lighted helium balloons. I
have started looking at materials to make them already, and
think I can complete each for about $150.00. So that is my
summer project. Oh, see that stick of a tree with blue & red
mini lights? In the center I filled a 2′ diameter glass jug with
white twinkle lights & secured it in the fork of the tree with
twine. Looks bad in the day light, but at night it very pretty.

crowd pleasing patterns. A lighted Christmas train travels

Shannon Ready This is my fourth year using Light O Rama
equipment. One thing that makes my display unique is that most
of my decorations are located in my back yard. I have a church
parking lot behind my back yard so people can park in the church
lot to see my lights and they don’t block any driveways and
streets. I have over 33,000 lights, 14 dedicated circuits, 2
motion activated security cameras, and over 1 mile of extension
cords. New items this year include 14 wreaths mounted on the
fence posts, a new FM transmitter, and a partridge in a pear
tree. Some of my videos can be viewed on You Tube at “Grand
