Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Home Depot!

HAs anyone tries speaking to a manageer yet? I know last year I did (after Christmas) and they worked with me. Just a thought.

It seems like the sales are different per region.

I spoke to a guy there and he said he thought Sunday or Chrismtas Eve they will drop the prices. My HD has a decent stock of colors, but in the 70 count not 100.

here is what i was told from the manager at home depot, i asked them when the lights were going to be clearanced, he said some are now, but the others won't be until after christmas, he also said if there was something in particular that i wanted and couldn't wait for the sale to buy it now at regular price and as long as i have the reciept i can get the price difference back on my credit card, (home depot visa) as long as it was within 30 days, and i said are you sure that will work he said come see me after christmas and i will deduct it myself, so i bought every single led there was in the store 400+ boxes of them came up to like 1200 or something like that, the lady charged me at the checkout the lowest price on all of them because she didn't want to scan each and every box so i got a discount already but i will be taking the reciept back come day after christmas and get my 600 dollars back on my charge card , so if you got the money to do that then i would say that it is a gaurantee you are going to get what you want, but pay more for it now, then get money back after christmas, :waycool::happytree:

no but the thing is i got the lights i wanted and even if they don't discount them i still got about 50 stands for free because the lady couldn't count, so i feel as if i got a good deal, but it is only money, they probably would've costed more than what i paid for them if i was to have a case shipped in of just one of the colors, so uf they do or they don't discount them i am still ok with it, but the manager did tell me that he would take care of me, kinda like a i scratch his back and he;ll scratch mine, after all i do plow the snow at their location,.... that does help out some in my opinion,

Last night my HD here in Castle Rock, CO had everything 50% off ... and it said to talk to the mgr for additional discounts. They had the 70ct minis for $1.14 but only had green an yellow. I got a few assorted LED(s), but they didn't have much left. THey did have a lot of white LED net lights.

The problem with buying out everything in the store before the sale is that there is nothing left to mark down and put on sale. For you sake, I hope that is not true, but you have consider it. Only stock that is left has a markdown price on the shelf. If nothing is left and the shelf space is consolidated then.......

Well went to home depot today and they had a decent amount of things left. I ended up getting 28 boxes of green mini's and 28 boxes of blue mini's and it was the 70 count and was 1.14 a box so not bad. Got a couple things from Lowes but not much left. Ended up with 32 boxes of c7 led's from garden ridge. I took 18 blue and 18 crystal white. They still had some left but not many. I got enough led's to change out my power hungry c9 bulbs and 2 colors to be able to change color on the house and garage.

I tried talking to the manager, no go.

that, or bring the catalog/add. Yea, talk to the manager. Depending on what other hardware stores are by the hd, they will budge. Just "threaten them" by saying that you need all you can get, and if you cant get it here-you'll go to wherever (lowes, menards, ace, etc.) Give em a scare :devil:

thanks.. still alittle high but good enough i decided to check 'em out - Since i was

in that part of town anyway yesterday ... they were $7.49 there (so even better!) picked up one set.

Has anyone seen the Solar LED sets that Home Depot has? ... I went to another

HD store today just to see what was left (have only seen the solar ones at this

one store...and they have quite a few)

But the regular price...$19.99...and not on sale...yikes!

I just returned from HD and bought all of their 100 CT clear. The sign still showed $2.00 per box, but the register put them through at $1 per box. So it appears things are in the computer at 50% off already. I bought the 70ct's for $1.14 as well.

After seeing this...went up to the local home depot this evening and scored their last

set of red C9 LEDs for 50% off - $5.00...i'd been eyeing that one waiting for 50%.

Grabbed 2 of the 70ct greens for 1.14...didn't know this til i brought 'em home &

opened the box...but the bulbs are alittle bigger than a 'normal' mini

well today was home depot delight days, i got my refund of 50 % of my purchase last week of 1300.00 for led's , i got 650.00 back due to 50% off, not only did i get the led's i was after i got more than i needed, the manager came to me today and asked if i would like to buy 2 more cases that someone was to come and get that didn't pay for them yet, said they have been holding them in the back for a week now and noone has shown up to get them, BONUS, so i bought the last 2 cases that they had 16 blue c-7's 16 red c-7's 16 green c-7's, for 3.49 a box, the manager told me 75% by next week if they make it that long, most of the lights was gone except the typical mini clear icicle lights, , so the manager did live up to his promise, otherwise i would have given him a adjustment on his lawn/landscape bill for the property this spring...ha ha , but anyways some people hold true to their words still.
