When a set of LEDs go out,

Recommended Posts

I'm assuming that you have removable bulbs? If not, pretty hard to troubleshoot.

If a string of removable LEDs was previously working and just go out, this strategy works pretty well for me. I would stretch out the string, and go along and slightly wiggle or tweak each bulb along the way and look for flashes or see if the string may re-light. You may get lucky that way and find a loose connection, or perhaps a bent lead on an LED that can be straightened and re-inserted.

If that doesn't work, you can pull individual bulbs out one at a time and check to see if they light with a Light Keeper Pro. But that is tedious. Just don't use the "trigger" features on the LKP, as that could damage LEDs.

What kind of LEDs do you have?
