What is a good but cheap webcam that will accuratly record from across the street (regular suburban neighborhood) (about 60 feet away)

and are there any websites that will allow me to broadcast this free?

Last year I used ustream.tv and was happy with the results.

I embedded the video into my website and people loved it! The link is here so you can see how it looks on my site.

The reason for going with a streaming site, is if you have a few people watching the camera, and they are streaming from your PC to theirs, each person takes up bandwidth of your internet connection. I have previously used Webcam XP, but with 4-5 viewers my internet would start to have issues.

Here is a camera view from 12/20

Another simple to use *free* program to use is YAWcam (Yet Another Webcam). It allows you to steam, save to a file, ftp, etc.

www.yawcam.com

I'm in the market for a webcam myself. I'm trying to find a decent wireless network cam for not too much. I have found several for around $120, I guess that is the going rate for a halfway decent camera?

+1 for ustream.tv

I've used it since last year - including 'tree' cam (while the show was running), 'Paint Drying TV' (while painting cutouts), and 'Solder Smoke Theater' (earlier this year while building Ren 24SSs).

They've gone a little crazy with ads recently, but free is free!

The link below is the cam that I used last year. It has it's own built in web server (you do have to configure it to use a static IP, but it's easy enough). Worked great for me and it's current set up as my "Workshop Cam" right now.
