Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Wanted C9 Roof Clips

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a specific roof clip and I cannot find any online or in my area yet. They are a universal clip and the package said that they were made by Gemmy. They are a slide in eve clip, but are thicker than anything else that I can find. They also have a support on the base and hold the light at a slight angle forward. I am looking for about 700 of them.

Do you still have a box? Can you take a picture of the Box and or the Clip?

I do and I can. I will do it tonight when I get home from work.

I think you can find those in just about any retail store that sells Christmas lights. I looked at your pictures and they look like the popular type of universal clips that I see everywhere. Most of the stores have stuff stocked now. I think if you shop around some you can find them.

Thanks Ted, but not those clips. I have looked in every store in my area. Yesterday I settled for the universal Omni Clips that Shopko carries. They are not what I was looking for, but they will work. The only ones that Home Depot and Lowes are carrying so far are the ones that you use a pole to install and those will not work. Thanks Again.

Yes they are a lot thicker. The Target stores here do not have any clips out yet, but I will keep checking with them. To tell you how long I have had these clips they were only $3.99 per box of 100. The ones that I bought yesterday were $8.99 per box of 100.

They are the "All in one Plus" clip. Just repackaged. The older version, like the box you have in the pic, don't have the little hook on the bottom for rope light like the new ones do. Most pros use these, as do I. They are the BEST out there IMO. Yes, Target does usually sell them, I've bought a lot of them there! I go in when they first put stuff out and buy them, because the 100ct. boxes are usually in short supply. See link!

PS. I hate the Omni clips. Sooooo much harder to get the sockets in the clips... And the ones I tried out I found I was breaking about 50% of them. I threw the whole lot in the trash! (bought after Christmas from hobby lobby the year prior).

I like the "All-in-one" clip better than the "All-in-one plus" clips. I've picked up the "plus" type from Target on clearance in previous years.

If you haven't found them yet - they are made by gemmy - and I purchased two 75 ct boxes last week at Home Depot. I had 400 in the storage area, but, I needed to replace a lot of clips this year due to dry rot (and I added another 600 C9 lamps)

I have also gotten them from target in the past.

Thanks for all of the help. The Targets in my area FINALLY put out their Christmas stuff and they had them. I bought a case @$3.99 per box of 100. I know that after Christmas I could have bought them for 50% off, but I need them NOW! Before I got the "Plus" clips at Target I bought some of the Omni clips at ShopKo for $8.99 per box of 100. I will be returning the ones that I have not used. IMO the Omnis are flimsy and very difficult to put in the C9 lights. I am going to 4 color LED C9s this year and had enough of the "Plus" clips to put up my first color. Then I used the Omni clips to put up the second color and hated them. Now that I have the "Plus" clips I will probably go back and change out the Omnis because they hold the lights at a different angle. I should have just been a little more patient, but there is so much to do and so little time. Now I have to make time and go do it right. You know the saying "If you don't have time to do it right the first time when are you going to have time to do it right the second time", but I was not sure that I would be able to find them.;):121_reindeer:
