Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

For situations such as yours, I would call Paul directly. I have no idea if he would be interested in a rebate but since he has already made statements in this regard, I am sure he would not want to publicly make you a special deal. I would think he could estimate the shipping.

No free shipping. All I can offer is a quality product at a reasonable price with service second to none! If other vendors want to get a foot in the door with free this and free that, I wish them well. At the end of the day, if they still have some money in the bank, good for them. I have three families to feed here (not to mention two hungry Siberian huskies) and a warehouse to heat and cool, etc. etc. Before this thread gets too far off, let me repeat - no free lunch! :giggle:

Guess paying for shipping isn't that bad considering you WILL receive the product...I'm "still" waiting for an order for the "other" guy...He had "free" shipping (awesome) ... BUT, I have NO product... Who's the real winner here  ... Not me...I'm in the process of disputing it with paypal.

Its easy to offer free shipping if nothing ever gets shipped! I placed my first order with Paul today, I know im saving alot of money but man that was alot of money to spend. Im excited to make a half switch-over to LEDs for this years display.

I waited until the last day but I got the order in on time!

That means I'm officially committed to building several new things and replacing my old tomato cage, incandescent mini-trees.

How many days???

my order is placed!.. I ran those 3 sample strings of paul's through the ringer even dropped them in a bucket of water and got 5 minutes of light before the GFI tripped.. and the string never died, I froze them, bent them around, stretched them out.. wearmed them up.. and let them get frozen under 8 inches of snow and ice for a couple weeks... and they Still work..... so in the end perhaps I pay a little more for shipping, but the reality is its a known quantity.. the lights are high quality.. and yes its definately a lot of $$ for a christmas display, however those 240 strings of lights will also make my life easier as far as power budgeting and growing the display....

plus there are several of us in ohio getting lights so we can probably get a pallet truck ship and save some shipping $$$... paul is very accomodating and so after I looked at it a little more id rather spend a few more $$ for the lights and shipping knowing that im getting top notch customer service and also a solid product...

I ordered on wednesday and was told that I would need to reply to an email to verify the details and authorize the credit card charge.. I never got that email. I called friday morning to make sure everything was okay... had to leave a message. I still haven't got the email or a return call. I hope this doesn't exclude me form the pre-order.

paul said he was placing his order with the supplier today so if he reads this forum you might still be able to get in... when I called my order in yesterday the phones were ringing off the hook in the background so I think they got hammered...
