Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

If you still have not received your sales order, call me this morning 800-733-9617.

Oh come now... seriously? A forum message for a seemingly time sensitive "call me"?? I've been out all day at youth ministry meetings (and will Sunday as well) and had no way to call or KNOW that I needed to call. I really hope this didn't hold up my order. Ya'll had my contact info.....

Yeah,

But I found this on the website;

Special Pre Order Sale From Creative Displays, Inc.

If you make large holiday lighting purchases every year and you're looking for true commercial-grade products, now is the time to get big savings on big orders, plus special financing! But remember, unlike our products, this limited-time program won't last long. Call us at 800-733-9617 for pricing and to place your order.

Offer ends February 12th

If Paul has already placed the order...ok then. If he hasn't....I WANT IN.

Wasn't sure if I was going to change this out or get new controllers. Over the weekend, had a job offer to conduct a "District Honor Band" (band director by trade here...). MORE LIGHTS :-) Didn't think about THIS until THIS morning :-(

Me wants to change out c9's for retro's. Save money for more lights :-)

looks like it, sorry

Thank you Paul for doing this pre order for us.

Paul has stated several times that the PC pre order ended at close of business on the 29th. The sales info on his site is for his commercial customers and that has also been clearly stated on PC in this forum. I am sure, knowing Paul that when he has his next sale he will let everyone know. I'd give him a call and see if you can get in on the sale as posted on his site. He is a great guy and a great PC vendor.

True, he state in later in another forum page that the sale would end on Jan 29 but the original page did state "through January"... we're still in January.

The ones I have seem at Walfart are NO where near the quality of HC strings.

Unless they are a really low quality HC string, I would say no.

Walmart uses standard grade, CDI uses commercial grade designed to last longer.

The good thing is we found lets say you are using Paul's 100 count lights that are 33 ft and you find yourself just 6 ft short of something and dont want to tie up another 33 ft long string to cover the 6 ft shortage, you can use walmart LED lights and the "color" of the LED is a perfect match for Paul's. In our case we were able to use Walmart cheap/shorts to fill those small 6 ft shortages and it was seemless at least with the lights we used. If you are not aware, trying to match Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart LED colors doesnt go over very well, there are brightness differences, White, Yellow and Blue can vary dramatically from one brand to the next but at least if you need emergency "filler", Walmart LED's do seem to match the color acceptably enough. This said, Walmarts are half wave, CDI are full wave so there are slight brightness differences.

I could still take an order for C-9's - call us in the morning at 800-733-9617. The string lights have been ordered and I couldn't take anymore of those.

Well I don't know about anyone else but my preorder just showed up on my doorstep today. That's what I call service! I just got 30 LED strobes. I'm excited to try them out. I haven't had strobes in my display before so it should be a great addition!
