It is not how much but how it is displayed. I'm not trying to pick on blowmolders because I like them myself but I have seen displays cluttered with them on every square inch of space. To me, it is too much. But that is my opinion and taste. The people that do those displays think it looks awesome but might think mine isn't very good. I think a good display should have a moderate amount of lights everywhere spread out evenly. Having decorations like blowmolds, inflatables, or other stuff like that really helps. Having lights and only lights, to me, is kind of boring to a certain extent unless of course the sequencing is really good. But to answer the question, yes you can have too much.

I'm gonna go off the deep end and agree with OKLights -- Every one thinks and views things differently. I personally am a neat freak. I think some displays around here are cluttered or messy, but that's my opinion. Others may think that my display is too "perfect" and needs some more pizazz. Go right ahead...I won't stop you.

I agree with that. I'm not a neat freak, but I like my display to look neat and "too perfect". That ironically usually requires more lights and I'm on a budget so I don't think I capture that look very well, but I'm always working towards that.

When is Enough, Too Much?

I don't go along with the egomaniac thing at all. I have no desire to be the center of attention. For whatever reason I started this, I'm driven to keep doing it because so many people come to see it and enjoy it. I also enjoy watching the people watch the display but they never know who I am. I sneak in and out of the house so people don't notice me much. My display has recieved a lot of media attention but that's no big deal to me because I used to be very active in my city and held elective office and was in the paper and on TV many times.

Not to get off topic but if you have to go I guess Christmas Eve isn't too bad.

I agree with your above statment. I will have a better Christmas then.

I think the above picture that was posted is over done but that is just my thought. The over done is do to the size of the yard that houses the decorations, if it was more spread out and well balanced then it would impress me more. On a side note, they decorate and do the best they can with the room they have and that is more than most folks do in North America & indeed world wide. We decorators are far & few compared to those who do not decorate..

(For me) my display needs to look good in the day as well as in the night. I like it symmetrical and not to crowded. My front yard is small (where I need to put two 11ft trees on the front deck).

Cozzi please read rules one two and three. Those of us with low vision thank you

Those rules only pertain to serious members, not morons like you that are just here to ruin it for everyone. Why don't you just crawl back into whatever hole you slithered out of.

as long as your house doesn't look like this......everything will be ok!!!! ;)

Yes, I realize I am a dead man.....

I like this house better that the other one only because it is not as crowded as the other one. If you change things around & maybe remove a few things it would be just right.

Again they decorate and that is good.

You have low vision too?

The Lions were doing free vision screening for children this weekend at a festival I went to... I think that is a very noble and needed service they provide! :)

Correcting a childs vision early can prevent all sorts of education and social issues.

I agree that a display can be too cluttered... for me anyways.

It is one of my hardest issues to deal with since I don't have say an 800ft frontage to work with.

If I did... I would be so busy building display elements all year long I would never have time for anything else!

i said yes because i beleive if there is not enough room to view everything then yes i say its crammed too much. My yard is 1.5 acres with 561 feet of front viewing spae and 200 feet deep, plus a corner lot so i have a side road with 300 feet of more space to put stuff out. So i do have a while before i get too much but some pictures ive seen, is too much in my opinion, no offense to anyone though

Look, I asked you politely. Are you a troll, a ten year old, an idiot, or just a ****** bag in general? You pick one.

He did tone it down a lot on the font size. Cut him a little slack--he's new. There's no need for the name calling.

I don't like homes that look like a 'junk yard'. Sorry, too much is just that, too much.

You want to be proud of your house and display.

To place out a hundred blow molds or blow ups to me is way too much. I can go see that much junk at the local stores selling it.

You want it to accent your display and have people think, "WOW, now that looks nice".

It all comes down to personal preference. I don't care for a lot of props such as blow molds and blow ups.

I prefer to focuse my attention on my music synchronisation.

If you like those props, so be it. There is no real answer here. Why argue over it?

We all have our own way to express ourselves.
