Steven Singleton Jr. 0
Well tonight I had my video camera across the street getting some video so that I could share with people. Anyway the video would only run at hd for 1 hour. Well the show ran for the hour and I went inside to upload the video into the computer so that I can do some editing later. Well I was about to go outside to see if anyone was there because I could not run the video editing software AND the lightshow because my computer is on its last leg. Well just as I go outside I see 3 middle school aged justin bieber looking boys in my front yard kicking things down and unplugging things. Well as I come out I start yelling at them and they take off in different directions and I run after them. Well they ran to the end of our street which dead ends into woods. Well I went back to my display and there are a few strings of lights broken but the biggest aggravation is that the unplugged pretty much the entire 16 channel mega tree as well as a few other channels on the other LOR box which is literally 2 ft from my front door. Luckily nothing too bad is broken but it just ****es me off. Whats crazy is we do not even have teenage guys on our street so they must have came over from the neighborhood next door. I went out around in the car looking for them and to warn the other larger displays in the neighborhood. We called the police and filed a report as well and they are going to step up patrols in our area. It just makes me so mad and add to the fact that we have lived in some crime ridden neighborhoods and this never happened. Just makes no sense. I do not have much and my kids enjoy the display and I put it up so they can enjoy it. I am just so mad right now I feel like just turning things off and calling it a year but that would let them win. Display is running at 75% tonight will get out there tomorrow and hopefully fix the rest of their stupidity. What is even crazier is if they would have gotten hurt I am sure that their parents would have tried to sue us. Well hopefully they do not come back:(
XmasBoy 10
I'm sorry that happened. With how long it took me to plug all my cords into the controllers, I would be furious if I had to do it again. Don't let them win though! Did they do it already tonight? I can't believe they would be so stupid to do that so early!
Michelle Kraklow 13
Oh man I am truly sorry to hear that! I hope they catch those boys!!! You are right, by unplugging everything will let them win and take away from your own family and those 3 punks just aren't worth that.
Steven Singleton Jr. 0
Yeah I could not believe that they vandalized the display right in the middle of it running. I mean I wish I had more traffic because then someone would have seen them. Seems like the traffic came AFTER the display was vandalized. I tried to plug everything back in but in the dark the mega tree was impossible to plug back in. They not only unplugged the mega tree lights from each channel but then also unplugged the groups of lights that were 4 sets of lights per each color channel. So tomorrow I have to sit outside and plug everything in 1 string at a time and regroup my lights and then plug them back into the correct channel. I have heard of people having issues once their shows are off for the night but right in the middle of the show on the week of Christmas it just really ****ed me off. The display is over on December 31st. Yeah people do not realize that our animated displays take a LONG time to plug things in exactly where they have to go. Its not like the static displays that you just plug back in
Guest Lightzilla
I know just how you feel because it took 10 years before it finally happened to me on December 3rd right when the show was running & it was on the our village's special night. Thank God it was nothing like what happened to you but it happened just the same. I saw the young man (teenage young man) do it. However he saw me a few second later and I made it clear to him & to his two friends to stay far away from my display......& so far so good. I also felt the same way like you about not doing another musical show but going back to static. What really bothers me is that these teenagers grow up with my display. I still feel some what insecure now after that moment.
Steve H 10
I am sorry to here you are having problems. I know exactly how you feel. The last two years as soon as I get the show going I get a note left on my yard or my mail box threatening to come back and vandalize. That happens that same time my neighbors is vandalized. Last year they kept there promise. On New Years eve they stole one of the mini trees an arch and attemped to pull over the mega tree and tossed a bunch of stuff into the street. I didn't know if I was going to put it up this year until about September. This year one note and some cut strings. The other nite I woke up and someone was throwing firecrackers at the house. I have motion lights, yard alarms and video survalance cameras. With all of this stuff going off all nite I don't sleep much and half the time it is on the couch in my clothes. I can't wait for it to be over so I can take it down and not worry about it. Sorry if I sound negitive. Like I said, I know how you feel.
Orville Fugitte 10
This the VERY REASON and my MAIN REASON for using ZIP TIES on ALL MY CONNECTIONS! My strings CAN NOT be unplugged WITHOUT cutting the zip tie(s) off first, even my plugs at the LOR controllers are all zip tied in such a manner they can't be easily unplugged without cutting the zip tie first. Yes, it may make it a royal pain in the a$$ for me, but it keeps idiots from unplugging things. Unfortunately it won't stop them from destroying anything if they go that route. But God help them if I catch them because I'll Taser 100,000 volts up their a$$ and then call the police to escort the vermin off to jail or juvenile hall where they belong! Vermin that do this kind of stuff really ticks me off no end and I don't feel sorry for them when they get busted for it either. Sorry you had to endure such stupidity from a bunch of deliquent vermin in your neighborhood!

Flint Hill Lights 10
Hi Steven a few years back kids cut 10 stings of lights on my 40' tall Angel. I was Pi------ out. Then when I went to put up my Angel six years later a nice young man showed up with about 20 stings of new lights. Confessed to the "crime" and helped raise the Angel. Well all I can say is he has a family now, and that Angel is in new friend Kelly's display every year now. Don't give up

I thought OKLights gave a good positive spin on this. I just just wish that LOR-CF would have made it more clear how he Really felt.
vtxrider 0
Very sad to hear all of this. Makes me want to move my dog's (Rottweiler) house onto the front patio while the display is up. If anybody comes into the front yard he barks like crazy. I am just afraid he will get loose and go after someone, then I have a lawsuit on my hands.
Reefrus 0
I put a couple of these out in the front yard around the halloween displays. They worked great to let me know inside the house if anyone approached the displays with different beeps I would know what part of yard they were in. I found them on amazon. Chamberlain CWA2000 Wireless Motion Alert.
ernies 0
That's horrible, I like the idea about moving your dog to the front porch.
