Who is GOING to PLUS in Gatlinburg in JUNE?

Recommended Posts

I was until I found out I could not get vacation time that weekend, but the next weekend was free, so I was thinking (which my wife always says is dangerous) it would be nICE to take a Roadtrip and visit my birthplace I have never seen, Crawdfordsville which is right by Indianapolis.

Wouldn't you know it, there is a gathering of Christmas decorators that particular weekend in the area. I wonder if I can crash it without offending anyone....Besides growing up in the south (actually the same town Darlene Pino now lives) I know Gatlinburg is not the best place to be on a holiday weekend and not on my top places to visit (been there more times than I really want to admit to).

My wife and I are planning on attending, booked a Condo rental for that week. That way we have a full kitchen and living room.

Have you rented from them before? Are they nice? I checked out the pics but...they are pics...

I am planning on going and it will be my first PLUS. I mentioned it to my wife and she was all excited about going so as far as I can tell...I will be there!!! Also going to bring along some friends...the ones that want me to help do a light show for his mom in Arizona. Coming from Florida that will be a feat including getting my own show up and running!!!! It will be a fun year!!!!

I'm still on the fence. Don't forget, the name is now Pro Decor Expo and PLUS+. And the website URL is prodecorexpo.com. So you can see the emphasis is on the pro and not us humble "enthusiasts." And in the heading it reads, "Whether you're a professional or dream to be one, this is the show to hone your skills and meet the vendors in preparation for the 2011 decorating season. Learn best practices as well as shortcuts from the experts. See the new trends and be ready to impress your audience."

Time will tell.

No need to worry about the "humble enthusiasts"... there will be plenty to do and learn for everyone in Gatlinburg. The schedule on the website was written last summer... almost a year before the event so it was a bit tough putting the right spin on things. The goal was to get people to at least put the date on their 2011 calendar Remember pros and enthusiasts have plenty to learn from each other. The website is due for an update in a couple of weeks.

One of several sessions we'll be adding is called "As Seen on TV" where we hope to bring in many of the people you've seen on the various Christmas specials over the years. You'll learn how they got picked, what it was like to be followed by a TV camera and how their life has changed since the show was aired on national television. Not quite like American Idol but I prefer to think PlanetChristmas decorators are just as talented in a different kind of way. Pointers heard in this session will help you when the local TV stations come calling as word gets out about your display.

There will be sessions on indoor decorating, lasers, incorporating videos, next-gen Christmas lights and more.

Stay tuned!

That sounds great Chuck. Without offending anyone, hopefully, I have to admit that my favorite session from the 2009 Re-Plus was Carson William's talk about how his display went viral. Spellbinding. Of course, getting a cookbook and a bag were great too. Stuff We All Get is always good.

Trying to get my wife to go with me to Gatlinburg in June, so I was just wondering who is going to PLUS in June?

Trying to get a Thread going, didnt see one on this subject so if there is one already....SORRY!!

I am planning on driving up from south Ga and attending the 2 day LOR sessions as well as the other sessions. Looking forward to meeting a lot of great folks, learning a ton and seeing some really great stuff. See you all there!
