Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

2012 Magic In The Sky Group Buy

Recommended Posts

To update everyone on the order status, I received word from our guy in China that the strings are finished and being packed on the container for shipment. We researched airlifting them but the cost was too expensive (over $190 per case) so they will be going on a priority single load container. Current ETA is August 20th in San Antonio with our plans to ship out everything the day it arrives. I will continue to post updates as we get tracking data on the container. As always feel free to call 210-267-5371 to discuss your order or email me [email protected]. Once again thank you for your understanding as we work to get your lights to you.

Thanks Jacob !!

Is it possible to give us weekly updates as to the status of the container??

Unfortunately I do not have any new information to share. Our guy in China confirms the container was loaded and everything is on track. We don't get any tracking updates until the container hits Los Angles as it only reflects "in transit" while it’s on the ship but still indicates a ETA of Aug 20.

As always feel free to email me directly at [email protected] or call 210-267-5371. Also several have asked if we are taking add-on orders. While we expect to have a good surplus of inventory, we plan to fill all orders first and then confirm what inventory is physically available before doing any additional sales.

To update everyone on the shipping status of the container; when I checked this morning the container is still listed as “in transit” on the ocean and an ETA in San Antonio on Aug 20. It typically takes four days to have the container move from the port to San Antonio, so it should have landed overnight.

One of two possibilities is: Container did arrive and the tracking has not been updated; Container is still on the ocean and will not be in San Antonio by Aug 20. I will post updates as I learn more, but wanted everyone to know where we are at.

Also we are sending an email to everyone using the email address used at Google Checkout to confirm your shipping address and give balance updates for folks that used the 60%/40% payment option. Please add [email protected] to your safe sender list or check you spam folder to make sure you get it. If you need to update or change this information it will have instructions on how to do so.

Thanks Jacob for the update, I for one can wait. I know this is not your fault what so ever. Hopefully they did something for you for all of this hassle.

I could easily see all this stress turning my hair prematurely gray.....No, over a few lights, I'll be ok.

You might be on to something Bill, my girls keep asking why my hair is starting to look like their papa’s.

Yesterday afternoon we did receive a little over 200 cases and are aggressively packing them to ship out today. That’s the good news; the bad news is that we still don’t have a tracking update on the other two batches the shipment. (Without going in to the long story, we knew we needed to get stuff to the US ASAP so we have each batch sent as it was finished LCL to get things going even though this only saved a few days per batch) Everyone should still be getting an email today to confirm shipping and ask a few other questions. When California opens this morning I will be getting a new update and post when I have it. As always please call 210-267-5371 with questions or email [email protected]

Jacob,

If it helps you, you can ship my order at one time in lieu of multiple.

I'm going to get THE LOOK, when I walk in the door, so I rather it be only once

I learned from China today that the final LCL of lights sailed on Aug 22. You can track the container at http://www.cma-cgm.com/eBusiness/Tracking/Default.aspx?ContNum=CMAU8102174&T=3720122126427 . Unfortunately you will find the ETA is Sept 19th. I will continue to post updates if this changes. If your order contained 35 or 100 count strands, c7 stringers, powder blue in and lens or length; or red or green m5 50 or 70 count, all of them are on this load.

We are supposed to be getting icicles and orange in next week and will email you a tracking number before we ship.

If you are doing a Halloween display please email me [email protected] with what you need so I can get lights to you for your projects in time.

Wow, the cantainer is going to take a month to go from China to Houston. Too bad it couldn't go to LA, or some other West Coast port and get loaded on a truck to Texas.

I know we'll get our lights, it's just frustrating with all the delays and stuff.

Thanks for the update. I understnad the issues dealing with China. I was in charge of over seas purchasing before retiring. When you deal with less than a full container it is a toss up. You are really have to rely on the manufacture to treat you right , then deal with the loading broker at the docks then hopefully you have a good broker here at the port to get you through customs and on a truck to get it to you. You are trying to get product to your customers at the time you are given but unless you are there you can not control what happens. Less than full loads might get shuffled to another container and you have to wait to get with an order to fill the conatiner. They will not send one to prot that is not full. I have had product left at the manufacture since it would not fit. It is just one little problem will follow you all the way. All of this cost you profit and more impotantly upset customers. It sucks to have this happen but I have been there , done that. This is the nature of the beast. Unless you ove alot of product or at least a full container will help with part of the problems but not all. I use to get up in the middle of the ight to deal with China. Again I understand and this happens, I hope the product will be a good quality and will not cause any issues since it will be a push for some of us. Next year we hope the stars will line up for us.

For anyone that's anal like me (or you find this sort of thing cool) you can see a map of where this shipment is "currently" located. It seems to be a couple days behind but still gives you an idea of where it's at. Just go here and enter CMA CGM DOLPHIN in the upper search field. BTW, as of 9/10 it's a ways off the coast of Mexico. Then it has 2 stops in Panama and finally Houston. It's currently scheduled to get there on the 21st.

The tracking still shows Sept 21 as the ETA in Houston. You can track its route at http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?oldmmsi=353467000&zoom=5&olddate=lastknown . Later this week we will be preprinting shipping labels from FedEx for the lights so we can cross dock them to FedEx. This will generate a tracking number for your box(es) that will be emailed to you.

Thanks for the update. I hope it will clear customs quickly. The drop date usually will not count the time in customs. Sometimes it can clear in a day or two or can be plled for inspection and I have had loads set in customs for 5 to 7 business days.

After customs it still has to be transported to San Antonio. Then it has to be packaged and shipped to us. So we still have a little while before we get it. I'm just hoping that they shipped the right stuff this time.

Status update:

The ship has official docked in Houston and the container is being offloaded to Customs. We have received a notice from customs that the container has been flagged for inspection and our customs broker is working with Homeland Security to get it cleared quickly. Once it is released we will be trucking to our warehouse and shipped out to you. You will receive an email from FedEx with your tracking number(s). Thanks again to everyone for being so understanding as we worked through this.
