Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

I always thought TSO with Wizard in Winter was a great rock n roll Christmas music. There is the Phil Spector "A Gift to You" Rock n roll Christmas album (Motown) has a lot of good ones, ,Chuck Berry/Brian Setzer: Run Run Rudolph; Santa Claus boogie; Bob Rivers has some great remakes with a Christmas theme: Bob Rivers "Twisted Christmas" album. (Good Decorations, Yellow Snow, Toy Shack, and many more). Beach Boys "Little Saint Nick"; Mariah Carey "All I want for Christmas is you"; DJ Santa in your town; Grandma got run over by a reindeer; "Santa Claus is watching you" by Ray Stevens, Jingle Bell Rock; Springsteen "Santa Claus is coming to Town; "Christmas Vacation" from the Chevy Chase movie, "Christmas Techno mix" (Amazon.com) usually free;

Wierd Al Yankovitch, "The night Santa went crazy"; Z100 Zoo, "Your Christmas lights look like crap".

You can also do a web search for Rock N roll Christmas songs, and you'll get a bunch of hits.

Maybe I am a little too sensitive, but as someone who was a block away from the Towers on 9/11, I just want to say that the use of the words "Ground Zero" and the tower falling over at the 38 second mark and the debris clouds in the video brought back memories of that day and put the same sick feeling in my stomach that I had that day. For those reasons I find this song and video totally inappropriate. You can do what you want, this is a free country, but in the name of those that died that day, and for the members of our military who lost their lives related to that dreadful day and the families of both that are still mourning, I request that you please remove this video and delete your post, and I in turn will do the same. Respectfully, George

George: FYI I am not that insensitive of a person to poke fun at what happened on 9/11.....That song was done in the 1960's by Wierd Al and was ment to be a SATIRE from that era and has ABSOUTLEY no bearing on 9/11.....As to how that video got linked with my post I don't know how it happened (guess i screwed up and didn't check my link & post) It was supposed to be a B&W video from the 1960's.

Anyway, it will be removed ...........Sorry it you were offended

How about this one??? It's maybe a little bit disco but it has a great beat and it was easy & quick to sequence because of it''s continious beat.

I used it last year and recieved really great comments about it.
