Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

my own opinion doesnt have to be formed,

Nope... you are given the free will to absorb what ever the social media puts in your head for you to process and define who you really are.

But once again... this was 10 years ago... and I know deep down inside you SAID OR DID some pretty dumb things you are very ashamed of... (and if you didn't then you are lying)... And I should never forgive you because you had those awful thought. And it doesn't matter if you think of all those bad things you THOUGHT ABOUT back then. What matters is that you never tell anyone. Do you know why? Because maybe no one would SUPPORT YOU?

And do I support him? Well, I'm disappointed that he dose not like my mom and my sisters :( boo hoo. But you know what? Theres about 35 million Afghani, 79 million Iranian, and 31 million people in Iraq. That is ~ 145 million people living in the landmass equal to Alaska+Texas+2x the size of Idaho... And i'm willing to bet that 1/2 of them are brought up to HATE ALL AMERICANS. This ONE ARTISTS is = 1 in 145 million people who may hate us! But funny thing is we still support Iraq and Afghanistan?

OK you guys win... You are better than I. God knows what I was thinking to even try to open your minds. I will keep further opinion to myself for fear of harming my good standings here on PC much more than I have today. And believe me, I don't jump in on the political crap. I'm jumping in on an issue that people need to look at through a different set of eyes.

my own opinion doesnt have to be formed, it was formed in the form of the singer/song writer himself singing like that about our troops..

clearly you support him in his decision to disrespect those who serve and die for our country and our freedom so you can claim your 15 seconds of fame on the internet by defending him......good work chief

I agree ernie18.

Clyde, I'm glad you are going to start keeping comments to yourself so you can stay in somewhat good standing.

I'm sorry guys, but I feel like John's thread has been hijacked by this discussion. :( This is about showing off his work, which is well-deserved with his amazing LED display and great synchronization. Any of us can choose to sequence whatever songs we want, and he chose a song that was the most popular in the country which ended up going viral across the media. It made his display famous, and congrats to him, although it's unfortunate the traffic caused him to shut down. IMO, save the rhetoric for another forum, this is about Christmas decorating, not one's opinion on a foreign music artist, no matter what side you're on. My apologies if I'm being too blunt.

Most of us have said/done things that we shouldn't have, but I honestly doubt any of us have performed rap songs infront of a huge crowd of people talking about killing us troops and their families lol. Lets not forget either this is PROVEN FACTS, Michael Jackson is not guilty of child molestation, if you want to support the guy and his music that is fine, but don't try to make anyone feel guilty for not forgiving him for his stupid performances and beliefs.. for example i don't like snakes, its not like an 8 year span is going to magically make me like them, he only is "sorry" because he knows it will destroy what he has now.

Excellent sequencing on all the videos of probably the most annoying song I have ever heard with exception to the chipmunks. I could only watch the first 15 or 20 seconds. Amazingly, this song seems to be quite popular. Again, excellent job on the sequencing.
