Bob Moody 3
I cant speak for all stores, but the Walmart in Huntsville has put the brakes on for buying almost ANYTHING after Christmas ... I noticed only a very small, very limited selection of incans (I think these were last years left overs) and they were gone after Thanksgiving. The exception being the incan in the 200 count reel ... Only LED's and not even a big section for them ... I was last minute shopping and wandered through the Christmas section and found 90% of all the Christmas items had been replaced with totes.... The only thing remaining is the usual suspects. A few racks of cards, table and tree decorations and stuff I have YET to figure our what your supposed to do with it ... I recall something about incans and 2012 but even the LED's are gone !!! Anyone else seeing slim pickins for after Christmas sales? Bob
millh0use 11
I noticed that all lights were gone from our Walmart a week or so ago. There is no way they sold all of them, so I have to think that they are just storing them rather than marking them down.
Dave H 10
The Wal-mart in Clermont, FL had already taken down the Christmas tree display. Lights on the back aisle racks were limited to some C9 incandescents and the dripping ice. Lowes was putting patio furniture back on their racks. As much as we are all a bit disappointed and have been conditioned to the Dec 26th "mad rush", hopefully this is a good sign that the economy and consumer confidence is growing. amd250 40
Hobby Loby was Great I bought 20 boxes of LED's 60% off
bigred7469 10
Same here in West TN. Lowes, Wal-mart etc theres nothing left!!!
Orville Fugitte 10
Seems to me the past few years in my area has been extremely slim pickin's to none at all after Christmas, and most of what I did find was broken items that no one wanted anyway. Flanigan 2
Same here. Although even if they had a truckload of incans, I wouldn't mess with them for even .50 cent/box after the extremely poor quality of this years batch. Going to nickle and dime way into commercial LEDs for next season.
jayson 0
Same story in the Houston area........WalMart, Lowes and Home Depot have essentially been out for the last two weeks. I have found a little at my local True Value Hardware. Guess I'll be sitting home for the mad rush on the 26th............
Dave99gst 0
i was thinking it seemd that way around here in MI .... after reading your posts i think i may be right
Luke Kamp 1
Walmart used to have ginormous amounts of excess inventory. Mine has none, and neither does my Menards. However, my Target is still fully stocked on almost everything...75% will come at the end of this week/beginning of next!
Jim H 0
My 2 Target stores are cleaned out, as well as Walmart and BigLots! They all made short Xmas orders and won't have to loose on the after season sales.
christmas_nut 98
Its becoming common practice among big retaiers with stroage space. smaller stores are the new after christmas gold rush destinations.
Dewey68 1
I've noticed the same thing around southeast Michigan. It seems that they are putting things on clearance before Christmas. We picked up 4 reels of LEDs for 30% off at Target a few days ago and a couple items yesterday at Home Depot for 50% off.
David W Prins 0
It looks like Menards will be boxing up Christmas beginning Dec 28. The 50% off signs say through Dec 28 and in my years of working there we have never gone past 50% off
Stephen Blue 25
Walmart, Lowes, and Home Depot are all giant fails here in my area of Eastern Virginia. Next to nothing left over. I know they want to make profits, but at least in my case I can't really grow at full retail price :-\ It's hard enough to maintain financially at full cost.
Clyde Lindsey 0
1 Walmart today had 120 mini Blue and Warm LED's (50 ct)... And guess who got them all at 6AM Then proceeded on to 3 other WM's and was not surprised of the lack of lights. My big finds today were at HD and Lowes. Also, I get my Military discount on top of the 50%. Can't forget to mention I found TONS OF LED'S at BigLots!!!! and they work well when tested with LOR. Got them cheeper per bulb then WM Minis. haha, I spent way too much today.
dboyer 0
Seem to have similar results to many of you. Very little left at my local Ace Hardware, KMart or Walmart. Drastically different from last year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jstorms 15
Each year retailers forecast how much inventory they will need and make their orders months in advance. Their goal is to have just enough inventory to get them through the season. If they have extra and put them on sale they lose money. They do not store them since they would have to carry the cost of the inventory. This year they did a better job of predicting how many lights they would sell. I think they were actually a little short since most retailers sold out a couple weeks before Christmas.
XmasLightGuy 1
Noticed the same here...very little at: Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Big Lots, Hobby Lobby (did I get 'em all?? LOL)...I think I found the most at a Walgreens. Guess stores have cut their orders back to avoid losing so much money..
