Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

I spoke with the DA and while the address of the "church" is in his county, the warehouse we sent the lights to are not. So we spoke with Austin police and were assigned a case number.

Additionally, The Sheriff previously mentioned will be getting in touch with us shortly. Going at this from all fronts!

You're right!  Was not a good idea.  I was just so annoyed at myself and this whole thing today!

Where did he post this stuff for sale, here?

Here on the Classifieds.  I had just bought a CCR from someone else on here - no problems.

Be careful. We'll get him even if it takes some time.

He's committed fraud on a larger level (at least with us). He claimed to be part of a church and used 501C3 paperwork to verify he was from a non-profit charitable org.

Unfortunately a "road-trip" would be an expensive plane flight for me and then I would be out even more money.

Talk about de javu all over again...

Chief of Police Randy Holland in Johnson City, TX was finally able to get the lights I paid for last year at this time sent out to me.  It took a few weeks, but he contacted Dexxie's mommy and she finally sent the product.  (Maybe the vision of her precious little Dexxie all bent over with a cellmate named Bubba behind him did the job.)

I agree - pursue all possible legal remedies, especially the IRS and the local DA.  I didn't push things any farther once Chief Holland was able to remedy the situation.  I was happy that "everybody" knew he was a scumbag and that I had most of what I paid for.  I can see now where that logic might have been in error.

Step one get Chuck Smith to ban his IP address from this forum. Lets make sure this doesn’t happened to anyone again.

That might not work. Depending on where you are and who you have for an ISP Your IP can change if you reset your DSL/Cable modem.

It just sickens me that there is scum like this on the earth.

Well, it doesn't stop here. I read on a Facebook comment in his page, apparently he has written bad checks to a previous church he attended and a local business back rent on storage locker.

I hoping to recoup my losses, but I'm more interested that this guy does some sort of jail time.

I feel he's just laughing at all his victims.

In the article it says he spent $5000. on new lights this year - really?

It should be modified that he stole $4000 of that from Jeff Holmes!!

Now since this is wire fraud, what about because it crossed State lines. Can that get others involved?

Yes.  That would get the Fed's involved.
