fairclb 3
I am looking to set up LOR for the first time next year. I plan to start with 32 channels. http://www.wowlights.com/ProductDetail.asp?Category=3&Product=48 The issue I will run into is the Cat 5 connection from my computer to the controllers outside. What has been the experience with the wireless controllers, or are there other wireless options that would work? http://www.wowlights.com/ProductDetail.asp?Category=3&Product=
s8830906 11
Upgrade one controller to one that has the MP3 showtime director built in. Then no computer needed, or wireless units. You simply setup your scheduled show on included SD card, install in unit and good to go.
fairclb 3
How does that impact timing to turn the show on and off? I currently use X10 controllers and my computer to start and stop the show along with Zara Radio to control when music starts and stops. Would this have to change, forcing me to manually start and stop everything?
Lee_N_the_NorthWest 10
You can get the wireless light linkers to connect your PC to the controller, then run the cat5 cable from one controller to the other. Here is the link. http://www1.lightorama.com/wireless-data/
s8830906 11
Not sure about any of that. Due to my work schedule I had to find the simplest means to run the show. All static and LOR on set timers. I have the showtime director in garage. It is programmed and runs the show, and has port for FM transmitter. I don't have to touch anything from beginning of season to end. All automatic; doesn't get any easier.
NH - Dave 23
The light linkers are the best way to get the signals from inside to outside and beyond, Buz Lightyear reference oooh! I am running 4 ELLs this season and will get more next.
fairclb 3
Thanks guys, that is what I figured, but wanted to hear what others are doing. The SD card is another good option.. I will have to look at both again and see what will work best for my layout/budget.
jeeper621 11
Has anyone tried the ShowTime Central yet? I am contemplating diving into LOR next year and noticed the new ShowTime Central and was looking for feedback from anyone who has used it yet.
fairclb 3
I ended up going with the wireless. I have seen quite a few people that are using showtime central that are very happy with it though.
