Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Hle Pre Season Sale 2014

Recommended Posts

HI Everyone,

First, I'd like to personally thank all of our customers! We've enjoyed emailing and talking on the phone with a lot of you! It has been an absolute delight learning about and seeing your displays.

Now, because we spend a lot of time talking to our customers, we have made some changes to our pre order sale!

The sale officially starts today and runs through the end of February! All our pricing is posted here http://www.holiday-light-express.com/

As in the past the same rules apply:

1. Orders over $1000 ship for free

2. There is a 2% discount for orders paid in full.

3. You have an option to put 50% down and pay the balance once your order is fully in stock

4. You can purchase by the string, or save a some money and buy the full case

What's new?

1. The sale runs through February. We understand that folks could use a little time to recover from the holidays, or figure out their tax returns,

2. We have a ton of lights in stock already which we can ship right away..... plus we already have a container of lights on the way! In late January we should be getting a lot more lights to sell at pre sale prices! This will give a lot of folks a much longer build season in 2014. We don't want anyone to have to rush those amazing projects! A full list of what is in stock is here http://www.holiday-light-express.com/in_stock_lights.php

3. If you order after the first container comes in (late January) and we don't have it in stock, your order will officially become a pre order. Pre orders will be delivered in late summer. If you are in a big hurry to get your lights in 2014, I would highly recommend you order sooner rather than later. As #2 states, we have a container coming in, and we can't change what's on it, so if we run out, your order goes to pre order.

New Items!

We are still adding some new items to the site but generally:

1. C7 retro fit bulbs as well as bulk wire and sockets for them

2. Expanding the cascading light tube selection to offer some different colors

3. Some WS2811 RGB lighting

Please feel free to post any questions you may have!

Thank you again for your business and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

How many C9 bulbs come in a case?

Also, how do the C9 led's look? I have seen a lot at places like Home Depot and Lowes, and they are not nearly as bright as regular C9's.

Thanks,

Brad Sloan

Hi Brad

As stated, the strand info is at the bottom of the page. You can also click on an individual item and it will bring up the details with the spacing and length.

C9 bulbs come 1000 to a case. About half way down this thread I posted some pics of our C9s in action

Got the C7 bulbs on the site as well as the flood lights. These are actually going to be in stock shortly.

We will have C7 wire/sockets as well. We will have 1000ft spools, as well as some shorter options as well (same for C9)

any specs like lumen output and wattage of the floods?

They are 90 LED's and 1.5 watts with 90 deg beam angle. I'm not sure what the lumen output is.  We will have some in stock by the end of the year. So I can get a video of them for folks before the sale ends if that would be helpful.

Yea !!!! My in-stock Pre-Sale order of lights arrived today! Thanks Brian for the speedy delivery!

Now,how to resist placing more orders for lights between now and February 28th???? that's a lot of time to convince oneself that they need even more lights! Gee I love pre-sales!

Just an update on our inbound container. Chinese customs is taking a look at it, so it has been delayed. It won't leave China until the 27th. That still puts it here late Jan or early Feb.

Can you get warm white LED floods?

In season we will have them. We didn't put them on the pre sale because they wont be here until September.

Will you sell C9 and C7 bulk socket wires by the foot instead of the fixed length of 100', 50' , 25'?  So instead of buying one 100' and one 50' during your pre-sale, can I just get 150' and you don't even need to terminate it?

It would be nice if you just have a bulk socket wire item for each wire color priced by the foot and then for the quantity we would specify the length.
