Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Not For Christmas But Still Smart Rgb Lighting

Recommended Posts

first off I'd like to say hello and thank you for taking the time to read my post (at least some of it....lol)! I just bought a lot of smart and dumb rgb lighting! I'm really excited! this is my first time that I'm going to tinkle with it as I have never done this before! this years decorations aren't looking good for RGB products but most definitely next year!

as for my question here since this is the "way off topic" section, I would like to know if anyone could help me in trying to build this ( http://uiproductions.blogspot.com/2011/07/deadmau5-led-head-replica-at-comic-con.html ) ? this is a deadmau5 head (he's a pretty famous DJ that wears this while working)! I've looked up info online many times to only be reverted back to where I was at some point or another in the past. I want to build it just like this guy did using a plastic globe or sphere with rgb lights, fans, and all! I was also looking to build a Daft Punk Thomas Helmet or Daft Punk Tron Guy-M Helmet ! the deadmau5 helmet seemed to be easier to build as all it looks like is a plastic sphere and not a mold. I'm sure it's still a difficult build but it just looks easier than the other two. anyways, if someone has experience, has built one, or is in the process of making one, or anything else that gave them the experience to make one of these, could you please guide me as to how to make it like this guy on this website? I would love to have it up and ready for Halloween 2015 as I want to make it my costume! I love this deadmau5 head! it rocks! thanks for your help!

Haven't built one, but...... It looks like ws2812b led. If they hand wired that, omg. Shouldn't be that tough to duplicate. Check out aliexpress, and see what kind of pixels they have to offer. Best of luck.

LOL.......i'm glad YOU think it's not hard! i'm new to this RGB stuff and i'm a lost cause! i'm still getting my rgb lights together for my pixel tree (on nylon rope, zip tied with 5 1/2 inch spaces and then placed in plastic tubing to give an extra glow) that's just about where i am (started putting everything together) and i still have no idea how to work LOR SS yet! :( not looking good this year for me! anyways, back to deadmau5 head.......i was wondering if i would be able to use these:

I believe you want to TINKER with it NOT tinkle.  Tinkle is something else entirely (and it definitely does not mix with lights)!!!

I have no idea how to make the deadmau5 head but make sure that you have something in there to shield your eyes from all those LED lights!  That guy got sued by Disney for using that mouse shape.  Apparently Disney found it to be too close to Mickey Mouse.  I don't know what the result was.
