WOW... what a blast from the past!  My dad made SEVERAL of those displays when I was a kid back in the 60's.  Here's a picture of my very first display that I built almost 25 years ago... it is based on Santa's workshop out of the 1962 catalog.  I actually have that catalog at home.  My dad had built the same one when I was a kid and I built mine as a tribute to him after he passed away.  Thanks for posting the links Jeff!

Those are fantastic, thanks for sharing those.  It would be awesome to be able to recreate those and have a vintage themed display full of those cut-outs.

Here's some of the Popular Mechanics display ideas to get your display started... http://www.christmascraftsman.com/vintage-popular-mechanics-christmas-ideas.html

Here's an article about Popular Mechanic's Project-a-Plan Christmas projects.

As well as a history of "Doc" Johnson's pharmacy and Christmas store, where these were made and sold.

Jeff, thanks so much for posting the catalog scans.  I've been trying to buy them to scan for my site and never could get one in scannable condition. -
