BSebo 10
Hey all, I've been trying to make a decision on new LED retrofits and I've noticed something new called Opticore that has 7 LEDs and a new design for the bulb. Has anyone used any of these bulbs and/or have any comparison to the more standard 5 diode, non opticore build? I just don't want to pay a premium for a lateral product. Thanks, sorry for the question. I've searched all across the web and this site for an answer.

Big J Illinois 481
These are the file pic, mine are put away...$20 ea. Put these in plexi cubes and the amount of colors is AMAZING!! Draw 5v, and use a dmx program to run the sequance. They also have a pick up ,to dance to the music, or you can silent. I promise , you will love these, as up lighting... merrymidget 42
Not what he was referring to at all? He is asking about screw in retrofit c9 leds to replace c9 bulbs on a light string. Those c9 7led opticore leds may or may not be any better than the 5led c9 retrofit bulbs sold by our vendors here, which are usually Minleon brand. The Opticores list .84 watts each, but without listing lumens, impossible to compare to any other product really.A bulb with 5 bright leds inside can outshine one with 7 dimmer leds inside! roger1 1
I got 3oo orange and 300 warm white c9 opticore bulbs for a home i do in south tampa and they looked great , the orange bulbs washed the the walls in orange , and the Christmas display with the warm whites were great ! , the led's filled the c9 bulbs from top to bottom and they were not that much more than the regular c-9's , so for me , i would say the little bit of pocket change is Well worth it for a very happy home owner . xmasbobo 0
From what I've read here https://wintergreencorp.com/c/opticore-led-bulbs.htm it looks like OptiCore bulbs use a single, surface mounted diode that emits light up into a lens/crystal to diffuse light evenly to the outer shell. The diode looks like the Cree LED technology that's used in higher end flashlights. Instead of adding more LEDs, the single diode is configured to emit more light to suit the application. I've no experience with OptiCores, but from my experience with flashlights, I'd expect them to be superior to multi leds. Just my opinion.
hotrod1965 44
I got a few to check out. I'd say that there isn't that much visual different between them and the 5LED C9's. Using a SMD is better tech, but visually, not really much difference.
