New Walmart blow mold for 2019

Recommended Posts

I spotted this at the walmart associate store in Bentonville where the home office is. My wife works at the corporate office.  This was a sample as it was marked up with sharpie showing what corrections it needed for production. I meant to post it last month but I did see it in the store here in Bentonville last night. I will post what other stuff that is up as well just did not have my phone with me. But this is one of the new designs this year.

Who's making this stuff?  Are these by Pan Asian?  I picked up all the giant christmas lights as well as the 36 inch santa with bell that Home Depot had last year, I'm hoping to get the 36 inch snowman counterpart this year.  The art style of this stuff looks exactly the same, especially the Santa and Snowman.  It could be like what Walmart did with Pan Asian last year.  My guess is Home Depot had exclusive distribution rights to the oversize light bulbs, so they were reworked with a different base (the ones you see here) for Walmart to legally be a different product.  With how similar that Santa and Snowman are to the ones Home Depot had last year, the same thing could have happened with them - making slight changes to legally be able to sell them to another retailer.  The nativity, sleigh sign, and bear look entirely new though.

Holiday time is Walmart's private label. But they will tweak something to make it their own. I will have to look to see if they have any other markings but guessing just a made in china marking only if I had to guess.  Also, they have been making the giant lights for at least 4 years now.

I really like them. I been to 5 Walmart looking for blow mold lantern and this was the only one to have soldiers and candy canes. And they had 4 of each and we’re all in Christmas tree display area.

Sadly the lanterns from last year are not back. The snowman head is and they have a penguin head that is new for this year.

I checked this morning at the nearest Walmart stupidcenter.  The entire garden section was devoted to Christmas items.  There were only 5 blow molds in the entire inventory, two 37" Santas, one 36" snowman, and two of the new 36" bears.    They had some new ~15"  lanterns that have the flickering flame light and some larger faux wood lanterns that were not lighted.   I think the Lowe's Home Improvement store  right next door had a better selection than this store.

Man I'm having sticker shock at some of those prices!!!  $40 for a toy soldier is 4X what they used to sell for not so long ago!!!

For that price it would be cheaper to go online and buy an authentic 60s Union or Empire soldier.   And that's even with Ebay's scam prices.

I wouldnt mind them, if I could find them, it's a hobby people.. many many hobbies are expensive..  it's a joy we get. It's what we love doing.. some of ebay is overinflated, yes. But it isnt the product, it's the shipping. I have bought from ebay, it's what I enjoy. Let's stop all the gripping and either enjoy what we do and embrace it. OR throw the towel in and find another hobby. Yea, I have in the past complained , but I too, enjoy it:):)
