  1. Very sad news. I'm so glad I have my molds and will pamper them even more now that this has happened. You can look forward to the price of molds on ebay skyrocketing. Better get what you want from GFP and ebay, while you can still afford it. I wouldn't be surprised, if some China company buys the molds and then redesigns them to put crappy solar lights in them that only last for two hours and gives them that ugly bluish light look. My greatest fear is that the molds will be thrown away or sold to collectors that will never produce them again. I hate saying this, but I feel that we Christ

  2. i decided to make one last trip to the Goodwill outlet store (surplus items) before Christmas to see what was available. It was good timing because I was able to find two more blow molds for my nativity display - the GFP standing wise man and a cow. The best find was a "Gemmy Lightshow Christmas Lights 6' Projection Lamp Post with Lighted Signs, Electro-Fire". The two blow molds were less than $5 together and the lantern was $13 based upon the weight. The light in the lantern is special. It's an LED assembly that flickers with and orange color. It really does look like a candle flame. W

  3. I have this saying: "the easiest thing to do is nothing." Most people seem to default to this setting. Sooooooo... I'm going to leave things alone, at least for this season .) But... I'm wide open for suggestions on how to make PlanetChristmas a better place. Please let me know here or send an email to me at [email protected]

  4. Just about done. I took off all last week because I had vacation to burn and was well used getting everything ready.. Had a lot of rain the past two days but that actually helped find any wet plugs before it all actually goes on.

  7. Well despite the huge size I liked the animated flame LED bulbs so I decided to use them. I used the jig saw to widen the mount hole for the bulb to get in.

  8. Not done yet. As you can see from the pics the weather got pretty bad yesterday and today compared to what the holiday weekend was like. Here are a few pics I took a little bit ago because there is some snow on things, it might be the only time, so I took some pics. After they uploaded they are a little crappy, sorry.

  10. Made this up tonight. I took three wire wreath frames. 2 12" for ears and 18" for the head. 50 count blue strand and just zip tied it all up. Plan is to make a bunch more and then "hide" them through out my entire display. We kind of are a big Disney family. I need to get a few to make smaller and maybe one large one for the roof. 11. This year's addition to my display is Monster's Inc. To give you a little idea of the dimension... the door is 8' tall. My 15 year old daughter painted Mike. The red light, at the top of the door, flashes on and off... as seen in the main picture (off) and the close-up (on).

  12. The blow mold storage area. The building is 24' x 36' and is over half full of blow molds including the overhead above the joists, the trailer is 12' x 61' and is packed completely full. The other pictures are of our front porch at the moment, all of the totes are full of blow molds also. The ones on the porch are waiting for me to take some pictures and make plastic bags for them. 13. We have been awarded a Beautification Holiday Edition Award from a local community group .Someone entered us in the competition without us knowing and we are grateful. We have hit the big time! Our picture is going to be in our local newspapers. Yes we have two papers and they both come out weekly and have basically the same stuff in both. It's that type of area. This is our first year doing this. 32 channel LOR with all LED. The PC community has been very helpful and I thank you all for taking time to help us that are new to all of this. If you responded to one of my questions or answered som

  15. I've gotten to the point now where I'm needing to rotate what I put out every year, simply because I'm out of lawn space. I can't really go any closer to the road because of the sidewalk plow, and fear that if I add more on the rest of the lawn it will look too cluttered, so I'm rotating things out every year. For example, I had a (mostly) different set of figures sitting on the wall last year, some of which I used elsewhere, some of which I kept inside. I also used a different Disney set last year. The only new scene entirely this year is the Empire/Alderbrook snowman trio towards the bac

  18. After about a decade of waiting, I finally got into blow mold. I had planned to wait until Black Friday but they were sold out days earlier at the local Ace Hardware store. After searching all over the internet, I found them at ToolBoxSupply.com (Troy, NY). I saved about $20 by not buying similar candles at Lowes.

  19. I am new to the Christmas display community and have used PC as a place to learn new stuff each week. A friend sent me some links to some Facebook groups as that is what he frequently uses for ideas and support. So I joined up and did some scrolling through a couple of these groups. I actually posed one question hoping for some suggestions. The responses I got ranged from nasty language to disrespect. I had one helpful suggestion. I will spend my time here from now on. I realize there may be some humor, rolling eyes, or whatever when I post on here but this place has been really helpful to me

  20. About 5 years ago I was watching some random Christmas light video and in the background I saw SOMETHING that looked like a glacier/iceberg. Not a realistic white snowy looking iceberg but an icy blue form and from that point on I developed a slight obsession with trying to make one. The video was no help, it was only in frame for about 3 seconds and was very far away. So I've been trying all kinds of weird stuff for the past few years, and they all looked like crap. This year I started looking for inspiration from church service backdrops and I saw something that I thought could work. Th

  25. We "opened up" for our first time tonight. Posted it on Facebook with no pic or video. We live in a small town and in less than an hour had 5 or 6 cars come by. Several commented on Facebook. I can see how this can become addicting. We are running a 32 ch LOR with all LED. I enjoy making people happy and I am already trying to plan for next year being bigger and better This has been trying but fun. I think it will be worth all the money and effort.

Towards the end of the Youtube video they go down to the floor and film the making of the snowman with penguin 75305. The youtube video is long but it has some good information the last 5 minutes is the best!!!(in my book). youtube link:

  33. I been using vampire plugs and SPT-1W wire for many years I had good luck with them. The wire is good up to 7amps I try to keep any one cord less than 5 amps = 600W. Below pictures are some of the cords I have made up and the parts needed to make more cords up. I would recommend trying it out. I use Action lighting for my plugs and holiday lights express for SPT-1W wire. If you want to try it out on small scale/cost go to action lighting order 100ft of wire and some in-line plugs. And see if you like the results. The choir stand uses one wire 40’ long with 24 in-line plugs.

  34. Chuck, I would love to see a new PC Magazine! I always enjoy them. I have printed out most of them and read them on remote job site where there is no cell phone service. Also, it would be cool if there where some articles on manufacture plant like Cado and some of the LED manufacturing plants. I know it’s a real tall order but I alway find it interesting how things are produced and I think other on here would be interested. Thanks for all your hard work!!!

  35. Sad indeed! I have accumulated around 170 or so molds over the years and this is another reason I want to hang onto mine longer now. I made a large display with them and have many of the same types such as drummers. angels, trumpet angels (have 25 of these in different colors) choir people! I want to replace all the C7 incandescent bulbs in them with dimmable C7 LED bulbs in some and pixels in some others but with my back problems I have not set up my display for the last couple of years. I was thinking of selling some stuff but still have the idea that maybe I can set up some things so

  37. This comes from a REALLY neat CD called "Cool Yule" by the Airmen of Note. This is the U.S. Air Force Jazz Band. Really neat FREE CD that most charts are a mix of ONE classic Jazz chart with ONE classic Christmas chart. Jing,Jing,Jing is a take off of Jingle Bells and Sing,Sing,Sing. This was one of my favorites to sequence. LOT of hit points to work with. I made a projection video I show with this chart located here. What is fun is when some of our elderly guest or "Jazzers" come and see the projection video. They say "that's Gene Krupa! I told them I wanted to be authentic with the video as

  41. PC Controllers with the plastic enclosures have a limit of 8 amps/channel and 15 amps/power feed cord (one feed does channels 1-8, the other 9-16) Consider also that and individual home circuit can only handle 15-20 amps, with a 75% or 80% max usage being ideal as stated above. Depending on your usage you may be able to put both controller feeds on the same circuit. If you use a lot of amps, you may have to separate the feeds to different circuits. I highly suggest the Kil-A-Watt meter as well.

  43. QVC host David announced that they are planning on selling blow molds for the 2020 season! He couldn't say which ones or how many, but he did mention Noel candles as an example of a blow mold for those who don't know what it is. Christmas starts in July on QVC. I'll be watching for sure and keep you updated. I guess the blow mold tree they sold this year was a big success. :)
