Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

Our christmas display has been static for the last 7 years, usally takes about two weeks (nights and weekends to set up) Outline our entire house with c9 bulbs, usally about few thousand lights on the ground (bushes trees) have three deer wraped in lights, have a slay, candy canes. lots of garland all lite. This year is our first year going animated, my husband purchaed a 64 channel controller and 150 strings of led lights red and white.
  1. we are off too rain.. wind will be here soon your display looks great:giggle:
  2. It is really raining tonight we turned our display off, new to this, we have 4 controllers. I was wondering what everyone does when it's raining? Do you keep your displays on?
  3. I am trying to do a show, and it keeps telling me to open up my lor control panel, but every time i try to open it does nothing, am i doning something wrong? thanks for any help you can give
  4. We were thinking about going static for 15 min in between shows (and would still like to know how to do it just in case of traffic b/c we live on a pretty busy street) but what you just said makes me think about 5 min. lol
  5. I have found if you take all the strands and zip tye the 3 colors of lights together it makes wraping much faster. It takes awhile to zip tye, but worth it in the end
  6. I didn't buy from him, but i had the same problem i didn't glue them back on b/c they i had tons fall off, just thought they were decrative?
  7. i had the same problem, but i don't understand the error your getting. my error was because i did not import the music file go to edit and down to music file then pick the song you are sequencing . don't know if this will work for you but it did for me. hope this helps.we are new to this too
  8. So last year around christmas time my hubby and i were looking for something new to do with our static display. Sooo we searched on the internet and found animated and said next year. So September comes this year and we decide to do it. We bought 4 controllers with 64 channels (knowing this is a big task). We got our software and I am off sequencing. (I should let you all know we have a garden center bussiness and my hubby and said NEXT year we should do this at the store.) Come the end of october I show my brother in law what we are doing at our house using our lor software...... Next day .... we are going to do this at our store. I say sure but we will never be able to do the sequencing. My hubby finds animated lighting .com I would like to let you all know what I have done in less than one month: At home - with hubby 2-arches 8 channels two strands of lights each 10 mini trees with 10 strands of 70 led lights each 1- 6 foot wreath with 4 colors (each strand of lights zipped tide together) 1-16 foot star with 200 ft of C-9 Lighting 3 bushes with over 5000 lights One 12 foot mega tree two color Whole house lined with C-9 I am done with everything but one arch have 4 segments. We have been working on this nights after working at the store. NOW FOR THE STORE: 164 channels With the help of 5 people 3 People are taking strands of lights and zip tying the colors together (red, green, blue etc.) each and every light on all the stands Me and one other are wrapping trees with lights 8-arches with 8 channels each channel two strands of lights 8-mini trees 2 ft high one color (10 strands each green) these trees will be in the middle of each arch) 8-4ft trees with 15-20 strands (red and white 4 each) 2-7 1/2 ft trees red and white (two chanells each) 2-10 ft. Swirled trees red and white (two channel each ) 2-6ft trees red, white and blue ( three channels each 2-71/2 foot trees red green blue (three channels each) 2-10 ft trees red green blue with four zones (16 channels each 4- 5ft wreaths red green blue white (4 channels each) 1-5 ft tree with 30 strands of blue ( 1 channel ) stropes and spotlights (don't know numbers yet) We have been working for ten days (8-5) and we have completed all the tree wrapping, we are now working on getting all the cords run to the twelve controllers they will be here monday to work on the sequencing. We had to build a room in a green house area that was dark and fire proof so, we built 70 ft by 50 ft dark theater style room that will seat 75. I can not wait to show you all our videos which I hope to have posted after thanksgiving Now you may understand why the newbie from Rochester, who wanted a hobbie got sick of lights in 10 days. But afterwork today I Did finish wrapping a bush, and now I will start sequencing my last song for our HOME show
  9. thanks for asking this question, we are in the process of making our mega tree and my hubby and i were tring to figure this exact thing out. we did decide to go up and down with the next the next color in the middle. we thought as suggested it would make it look fuller, we are only doing two colors red and white.
  10. it is a two channel star with c-9 white and led c-9 red the led c-9 red are very dull thinking about wraping with led mini lights
