Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

  1. Well theres this http://www.electronics123.com/s.nl/it.A/id.467/.f but it leaves more questions...like i said this is way over my head. Id call lor and ask them or atleast drop a email might be able to point ya in a better direction then i can. I wish i was more help but atleast its not a tv remote
  2. Are you talking about on the board where it says JD on the left side then on the right side of the pins it says input ,speed blah blah blah and they look like jumpers? I really dunno...that goes over my head.
  3. Are you talking about letting the lor loop and computer run but just have something to kill signal? Like inline on the ethernet cable? I dunno what that voltage is but thats a good idea.
  4. I dunno i was thinking you were talking about sending power to the lor to turn on the power by a infrared relay board. hmmmmmm
  5. http://www.electronics123.com/ has some things of that nature but the stuff i have seen in the past are 12vdc. Not saying they dont have something that is 120volt i just wasnt looking for anything that was 120ac at the time. AND i have done biz with them a lot and never had a issue EVER! You can get caught up there so take it easy lol Theres lots of goodies over there A matter of fact i know they have some 120volt stuff i just cant remember the kit name.
  6. Im glad you asked i have same ? Been wanting to add strobes for sometime now still have more questions like does it have to be a full string and can be a single what size fuse blah blah blah ya know.,...
  7. I feel your pain ya know those bayco rolls for extension cords well somehow it looked like a ball of yarn a tiger had gotten ahold of! I was straightening that mess out for what seemed like hours. Thank god it wasnt 1000 ft or i would of just hung it on the wall and throw darts at it I tell ya when things like that take place i take it personal like it did it on purpose. Its just going to take a lot of back and forths i wouldnt give up. Just do a little at a time while watching tv
  8. Like he said prices would be great and i almost have all my seq. done but i need some help b/c i have no time really and if cheap enough well...Remember i have a budget too and well....I need cube steak prices on ny strip
  9. If your looking for me to say oh no worries it will be fine...well i cant do that so many varibles and im no cable expert and knute knows more then i will ever know when it comes to this. If ya think its a bad idea it usually is...if you cant find a flaw and nobody else can either its most likley a great idea. I just hate to say hey go that route and something goes bad and i feel horrible if you do go that route your on your own bud i just dont trust pines at all my neighbor has one i dodge like a bullet i can poke my finger in it it so rotten i hate pines and dopnt trust em...Its your call I ask knute hes seems to know about cable tensions and such and anchor points. All i can say now is i said my 2 cents and wish ya best of luck aand hope it works out perfect b/c i would really like to see 200 ft of shooting stars
  10. Not a chance would i ever attach anything not even a piece of cotton to a 60 ft pine. With the weather we have we dont have horrid wind and just a peaceful fart can make one fall aound here. If you said a cedar or oak or redwood id be on board pine no way. Let me tell you this you can take a stick tie it to a piece of rope throw up in the pine tree hang the top and pull and that booger will snap off! I have done it to top them b/c im afraid of heights and im not climbing one. Tension on a pine is like watching a rubber band to break its not if its when. Becareful with them pines.
  11. Something like a coil spring from a old dodge truck? Edit or a modified leaf springs
  12. What kind of tree is it and how far up the tree is the cable going to be? Safety is a concern with cable if something snaps and that cable comes screaming down from 60 ft and hits something under tension its not going to be pretty. Thats quite some weight at 200 ft length. I would rather see rope since the stars weigh nothing maybe a clothes line rope(what they have isnt clothes line rope b/c its thicker) i tighten my neighbors and loosen it all the time when doing yard work and its easy enough its light weight holds a load and if its snaps its not a wild metal snake and when i tighten it it holds and doesnt sag with wet clothes so...Might be a idea to think about. I think their run is about 75-80 ft so its not that crazy of a idea if stars light enough.
  13. Im with knute theres a lot of varibles on this one. First how fast are the winds, weight of stars, etc....One thing i would be most worried about is the spring its a great shock absorber sure and it sounds great on paper but when a tree pulls and the spring streches out its gonna sag or if the spring streches until it pops off anchor point on pole. Its just one them things i think the spring is great idea but if you know the winds and gonna get jacked up release tension on cable and put back up when its over. Just my two cents
  14. I dunno if you have used before but frog tape is some pretty great stuff. Lowes has it and its 150 times better then masking tape. I havent had a problem with it yet. Might wanna give it a try.
  15. Oh and i know your using sign grade but all you have to do its mist the back with dollar store white paint and it looks the same and thats what i do. Save some money
  16. Ace has poly for 1 buck 20 per square ft. They even cut it to the size you need. Now the thicker you want the more it cost i just used 1/8th for mine and attached with industrial velcro so if bulbs burns out its eqasy enough to pop off. Plus dont have to buy special bit to drill through it. Theres cheaper places for decals too try car audio shops USUALLY they do decals for certain installs or wraps etc... They can do what ever you can come up with. Plus wouldnt have to pay shipping or have to wait if you find local Btw sign looks great!
  17. In the basement for the game room i did a bunch of skulls and crosses and hillsides in black on white paint and going to paint The boneyard or the Grave yard ya know something like that havent decided yet on the text. Well i have almost got a office and thinking of doing something like that but im having hard time comming up with a name...Im asking for suggestions... Something different and new. I know what your thinking just PAINT THE WALL! Well thats kinda boring i want it to be something different not the same old BLAAAAAHHHHH! make it fun ya know? I thought area 51 or norad and command center but thats just corny what ya guys got! Your imagination better then mine Its going to be kettle black walls with white graffiti so well not so much graffiti but a wall name kinda thing like a decal kind of thing... HELP! What about skunk works then under neath says TOP SECRET
  18. Yo i been thinking for a longtime to become a donor where do you go to get checked and see if its a match? If i was a match i would donate or if i was a match for anybody for that matter i would donate. Anybody know anything about this procedure etc....Any details at all. Where do i get the test done? How do they know if match or not b/c i know for a fact they keep all secret for some reason and i wouldnt want someone to miss a oppurtunity. Can this stuff be shipped or does it have to happen like right there in real time. Ya know any details at all...Im listening
  19. Yeap i have seen their work on youtube and its very nice! VERY NICE!
  20. Actually they are called pyromusicals and they are not a easy task at all. Lor to set off fireworks might work but i dunno seems like too much voltage and trip hazards when all you need is a firing system and a fully charged 12 volt battery. Now setting up the fireworks to music and timming is another story you think your brain hurts when you do lights to music. Pyromusical is a walking brain tumor! and no i dunno how they get all that timed just right i just old school it If its close enough its fine cant get it perfect anyway and if ya can its pure luck. A clock is your friend though and you have to time everything out right so you basically shoot everything twice to see the timing (and just b/c one is so and so seconds doesnt mean the next one will be the same so see what im saying?) before the shoot to know when to hit the button at the right spot on the song etc....Its not easy.....But still with little effort can be amazing! Ok im done i know i know i talk too much...
  21. TEST STUFF TEST STUFF! TEST STUFF!!!!!!! You bet ya! I dont really care what neighbors think im the oddest oddball in whole neighborhood and i know it! I just do whats good for me if they think im crazy OH WELL! I test all kinds of thing in yard halloween christmas fireworks, firing systems, different fuse methods to speed up cannon fuse instead of using fast yellow try testing sticky match in driveway while someone drive by WHOOOOAAAAA! yeah thats a hard one to explain lol! etc....Im the neighborhood nut! Sometimes they call police you explain they laugh its ok. Live it up bud dont sweat the small stuff
  22. I upgraded about week ago for the beat wizard and it didnt help me at all and for tracks i still dont understand them. I find it to be faster for me to go down to the 10th grid and use the tap wizard and do one element at a time. I dont think theres any miracle worker other then take your time think it out listen to your music and know when to walk away. Two days ago i worked for 6 hours straight next day few hours this morning just a few minutes. Take a break from it dont over think it and dont get burned out. You have plenty of time i know thats a lot of channels but just go with it and get done what you can.
  23. Ok just ordered the v6000 and antenna. I hope i dont have to eat this thing lol. If i have bad luck with it they take returns? HERES HOPING! And i agree with yall ya just cant pinch pennies on the two things that need to operate perfect. Sometimes you just gotta splurge a lil bit and i dont think neighbors going to know mono from stereo anyway its not like a sq sound off or anything lol If i can get 100 feet i will be thrilled!
  24. And i tried the mods to the belkin and it got better but at only 5 feet better so a total of maybe MAAAYBE 10 feet and everytime i touched it a wire broke off its a piece of crap i threw it against the wall. Id rather sniff farts all day then hear the word belkin ever again....What a day and night. Live and learn i guess.
  25. Ok before i buy something else someone stop me! How about the mobile black box v6000? If i have trouble with this one i will deep fry it like a corndog and eat it...
