Did you know?
  • The original Rudolph did not have a red nose. In that day and age, red noses were seen as an indicator of chronic alcoholism and Montgomery Ward didn’t want him to look like a drunkard. To complete the original picture, he was almost named Reginald or Rollo.
  • The Christmas wreath was originally hung as a symbol of Jesus. The holly represents his crown of thorns and the red berries the blood he shed.
  • The three traditional colors of most Christmas decorations are red, green and gold. Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, green symbolized life and rebirth, and gold represents light, royalty and wealth.
  • Tinsel was invented in 1610 in Germany and was once made of real silver.
  • The oldest artificial Christmas trees date back to the late 1800s and were made of green raffia (think grass hula skirts) or dyed goose feathers. Next the Addis Brush Company used their machinery that wove toilet brushes to create pine-like branches for artificial Christmas trees that were less flammable and could hold heavier decorations.
  • ‘Jingle Bells’ – the popular Christmas song was composed by James Pierpont in Massachusetts, America. It was, however, written for thanksgiving and not Christmas.
  • Coca-Cola was the first company that used Santa Claus during the winter season for promotion.
  • Hallmark introduced their first Christmas cards in 1915.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.
  • Christmas 2018 countdown has already begun. Will you be ready??? Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.

I tell ya you can show me that trick and i still wouldnt understnad it lol I know one thing if he is knocking holes in driveway and yard and has secret tunnels everywhere his wife gonna beat him with a stick while he sleeps!

    2. I hear ya i use great granfathers wooden fold out tape measure and i wouldnt use anything else anymore and i have tried and its a headache!

I think you guys got the wrong idea here. You have to crawl before you run. How many times you show up at jobsite and see "weekend warriors" That are clueless of what they are doing? They rent the tools and put a terd together. Hey im not a bad contractor myself i specialize though i dont say something like oh i can do it all. I know what i know and i stick to it. What triggered these thoughts is i was looking in paper for a job and i see contractor hiring sub contractors....Gagged me! first off 9 times out of 10 around here they take money and run leave you high and dry with crappy workers...Im gonna say what i always say "everybody is a expert" I know there is a bunch of great contractors out there dont get me wrong here. I just wish there were more real contractors and not some fly by night thing that cant even drive a nail with a hammer b/c they need a babysitter to drive the nail for them. See what im saying? DOnt get the wrong idea im not trying to make anybody angry here...Im just upset that people get away with the work they do...

    3. Ok in living room theres two 3 way switches and one is fine but the second ones placement is ugly and i was wondering if i can get rid of that one somehow?

And at top of stairs we have a 3 way and at bottom of stairs theres a 3 way well if you hit the switch at top and light doesnt cut on you have to switch it back then go down stairs to turn lights on. Is there a better way to do this like just have one switch at top of stairs to cut light on and off. I mean think about it i dont want to walk down stairs in the dark. Its been like this for 35 years and i have had enough...

Ok on junction points can you legally have a hidden junction in the wall if its done correctly? wont be able to get to it. This made me think what about junction in attic you would be able to get to it so tech. it wouldnt be hidden right? Just weighing some ideas....

    4. I grew up old school you had to do it with hand tools the right way before you even look at power tools. Hey i might only be in my 30's but i have done my time TRUST ME! LOL

What have you rather swing all day everyday? Heavy hammer and swing less to drive a nail or lighter hammer and have to swing more times to drive a nail? Yeah it kinda doesnt make sense does it? Tired is tired right? People comming up today dont know how good they have it when it comes to this. Hammer drills, air nailers, impact tools, nibblers list goes on and on what ever happened to hard work and muscle? I dont care if man or woman trust me i know a few woman auto mechanics that are tough as nails! I got punched by one once in arm i thought it was broken! Anybody have any thoughts on this? The "We are getting lazy theory" ??? I start off on which hammer and now im on the lazy theory....SHHHHHESH! lol I dunno i guess a lil rant....Throw your two cents in....

    5. I not saying gfi or no gfi but i will say this i dont use em and im not dead yet...That doesnt mean that one day i will or wont bit the big one either. If they are right next to a water source or outside regardless yeah id go gfi. OH NOW YOU SAID THE ONE THING THAT ALWAYS GIVES ME NIGHTMARES!!! The cpsc I wouldnt listen to one word of the the garbage they put out im serious the pyro community 1.4g knows exactly what im talking about. They say things that are just flat out wrong then convince others to folow and everybody is clueless and left in the dark but the cpsc says so so they must be right. When they are wrong. Hear the words Consumer Product Safety Commission RUN FOR THE HILLS! All they do is says what ever is on their mind and cant back one thing up! I just had to get that off my chest sorry...

    6. I will be honest here i kept watching this click free thing and i was skeptic as it gets. Take it from me i have been in the computer biz for many years everything from networking to repair to building troubleshooting you name it but that is the easiest and best 60 some odd dollars i ever spent flat out! I bought so long ago i cant remember price but i know it is between 60-80 depending on which one you buy. I have been using for 2 years now and no flaws that i can see. Even run stuff from the click free drive. Its saved my rear a time or two. You cant get pictures back ya know when hd takes a crapper...Well some say they can but for that price and the chances that you can recover well....I believe it when i see it i have never been able to recover anything. Just thought i throw my 2 cents in :)

    7. Im shocked by elec tape and masking tape! Get some duct tape. Thats what i use and have plenty of room to write what ever you need to and it doesnt peel off. I take a big enough piece i need maybe 4 inch long fold equal around cord and have both sides to write what ever. Masking tape and elec tape i would be lucky if i could get that stuff to stick to anything....Well it does stick when you dont want it to i tell ya that Start painting and watch it peel the paint right off the wall for spite! !!!EVIL!!!! Im either buying the wrong masking tape or you guys have to re label every year?

    8. I must be retarded b/c i still dont get it i thought you said no mirrors for this one? And how he hide behind those mb and not be seen i dunno....I dont care if he sucks in gut lays sideways how is he not there? I must be blind i guess. I see something but whats he behind? MB theres no way unless he is thin as a tooth pick turns sideways and dissapears

    9. I would say plywood hands down. Its sturdy enough and very easy to work with. Coro can get a little pricey depending on your source.

      Ply wood is usually cheap.

I will second that. Watch out for sales at the fix it stores sometimes its over priced but give it a few days and it drops. It depends on the season but dont bother buying when its hurricane season. Best time i have found to buy is september in the south. Well it was this year anyway but yeah we have a guy in neighborhood that does santa and reindeer and it all silhouettes and it looks great! and its been holding up for years now so i think he/her is doing someything right

    10. How lucky she is to have you as a neighbor! Do you have a good relationship with that family because if you do I would nicely point out that they are ripping her off and show her the nice work that you have done and it gives her something to go back to the people that WERE supposes to do the work if she chooses to get rid of them I guess if you don't, I wouldn't say anything at all. Nice to see neighbors helping neighbors.

I knew her boy and went to school with him and always wave at them but nothing more then that. I will just keep sneaking in and fixing what they leave lol

    11. Our whole neighborhood kinda like that everybody helps out when they can. My other neighbor said to me once thats what you do for neighbors! We had a old flag on house and it was really beat up and fella up the street saw it and rang bell says hes been in airforce for 20 something years and going to dispose of it the right way and all that btw we were airforce for 21 years too i grew up in military lol Well i wasnt thinking much of anything but one day he brings over brnad new flag and im like oh! ok. What i didnt know was what he paid for it until i was walking through store and there they were 33 bucks! I WAS SHOCKED! Yeah its a great neighborhood really cant ask for anything more everybody looks out for each other. We are lucky to live here really. Theres some farts that live out here but thats like 1 percent know it alls that think they running something and they just get ignored...They dont wave or smile or nothing but they let their dog crap in your yard and walk their dog all the way into your yard and noisey they cant stand what you have going on they will use dog as excuse just to poke around everything! At first it made me mad but some people have nothing better to do so i let em lol

    12. My neighbors have had the worst 10 years of there lives i swear. There son turned up missing 10 years ago and there wasnt a good outcome they find him in december last year the old man health isnt good at all hes in and out of hospital its just total crapola! Well she on the road back and forth and some neighbors cut her front yard and i was going to next time mine needed cutting and theirs really didnt need it anyway but she hired someone to come out and cut grass do weedeating trim trees whole nine yards. Its sunday night about 7pm takes them almost two hours im thinking they really doing something over there! I look out in morning. The backyard weed eating is not even tocuhed theres still those creepy trees growing through fence that you dont want the gates left wide open and 3 more of the creepy trees are growing behind the gate so its a nightmare to get through. I start doing the weed eating hanging over the fence and those metal things have stabbed me in the arm pits for the last time so i sneek into this lady back yard and do the weed eating i mean the gates right there next to my house and i have everything out doing my weed eating whats the harm right. I was trying not to scare her b/c i could see it now on news 4 "CRAZY NEIGHBOR IN MY YARD DOING YARD WORK!!!" I got in there and out so fast! I didnt leave the fence line and i didnt want to over stay my welcome i kept my eyes down and went to town on the grass! The weeds were real bad REAL BAD! They grow up in the fence and its a nightmare! It was a ft high all the way down fence line and a ft out! You know how metal fence is on that string right yeah i must of reloaded 100 times! part that gets me is they took her money and left it like that? What is wrong with people! They took advantage of them BIG TIME! They expensive out here too 35 for weedeating 25 for cutting grass. Let me tell ya first off it doesnt take that much gas for my yard and that doing weedeating too and they have same size yeard as me about a acre maybe 3 bucks tops 5 if your having really bad day. These yard people spend 5 bucks ride around on mower take 60 bucks and walk off smiling and dont even do their job right. I do i for free. I like the heat and get out there and work in the yard geeez i should be paying people to let me play in their yards! lol I was always brought up if your going to do it do it right or DONT bother! How can these people sleep at night?

    13. Look at :31 stare at the white mailbox its white then somthing dark at the top right corner...I know theres a black mb there too but thats not what im seeing. Anybody else see what im seeing? And im not trying to take the fun out of it but doesnt seem possible.

    14. I'd like to take a listen to your soundtrack. I might be able to run it withsome strobes between songs, maybe throw in a few scary movie bites. The neighborhood display in which I'll be setting up strictly prohibits gore. They allow scaary but want to keep the teenagers and ensuing trouble away. It's more for the under 12 crowd.

I tried to send audio track through pm's here i dunno if it went through or not let me know i try again

Edit i think file too large so pm email address or which ever way you want me to send it,

    15. Well i use lor for mine but for lightning and flood control i put together a audio track withwind ,rain owls, thunder, wolves, screams works great i can even send the file if ya want and track i put together. Its all over layed too so its not stop and go can hear rain wind and lightning at same time etc.... We dont do the kids stuff we go all out blood bath! The more gore the better! And we use 3 mini strobes for lightning get the setting right and its better and faster then any flood (been there and done that floods for lightning no good) Flood in yard dim while wolves howl etc stuff like that and right placement in yard fog is all blue. Our yard is kinda like a graveyard/mine field/ gone horrible wrong graves and blasting boxes etc....the make up is always gorey though sometimes kids wont get out of car. I dig up some pics if your curious of how we do it and i try to find video its somewhere if ya want to see. Remember im no photographer or good at taking video so.....

    16. How small of a circle can i make without something going horrible wrong? I know it will bend but how bendy is it exactly? Could i make a 5-6 ft ring out of it or is that too tight of a bend? I just dont want to be bending it and it slips and smashes me right in the face with some pretty hefty force! LOL

EDIT I already have one about 15-17 ft i think i never really measured but instead of having to measure and stake and it gets so time consuming i think i could lay out a ring with where the strings go hook em up and then secure ring to the ground. I figure its going to be time consuming now to get everything equal etc...but when it comes to setup it will go together faster. No more marks on ground and strings and coujnting out blah blah blah...I figure there has to be easier way and this seems like a plan to me

    17. Not trying to let the air out of your balloon or anything but since your going two houses maybe a static setup would be better option and just focus on layout? I know two years ago when all my stuff got "fried" last year i was starting over and i wanted to go animated but i didnt have enough time to regroup. Had ebough time to put boards together and get half way through a song and before i knew it i had 100 different things going at once and still didnt get done what i wanted. I guess what im saying is dont bite off more then you can chew. Look at it like this one house is a lot of work and two houses well....BUNCH! I wish the best of luck though hope you can pull off and animate two houses! :) Dont forget to take video too!

    18. wouldnt the mirror reflect the sun and show? I dunno i do know one thing its bugging me b/c i cant figure it out. Only last thing i have to throw out there is where that green elec box is to the left of it there is a board painted to blend into the back ground and he crawls along the ground and pops out behind the blanket....
