  1. Here's a pretty good picture of what I have. This pic is from a couple years ago. I've changed the nativity a little with a taller pole and a much better star. The nativity reaches across the whole spot between my driveway and the neighboors driveway - luckily he doesn't mind one bit that it's on the edge like that (it's more mine anyway). I'd say a bit more than 16' across. The ground slopes down from where it sits so I have to put everything close to the top. I want to keep the nativity there so it can have it's own focus and not be a part of the blinky flashy part as much.
  2. Right now I have a good collection of blow molds for my nativity. Mary, Joseph, Jesus, three wisemen, shepard w/hook, camel, donkey, a couple sheep, and a small angel. A mix of manufacturers but mostly empire. The problem I'm getting into is the area I have for them is barely big enough to display this all nicely. It's tight and won't work well in any other part of my yard and I don't like them crunched together. I've tried positioning the animals in front but I still get a spread because of the bigger molds. I've even thought about making benches to boost some up so I could move things
  3. Cool. Are those stars the multi channels stars that "explode"?
  4. This year I am trying to convert over to LED as much as possible and this goes for blow molds. I know blow molds are a bit tougher to do this with because of the design of the LED bulbs, at least the C7/9 bulbs since they point more than radiat. Home Depot carries a 40 watt bulb dimmable for $9-10. I tested one in a penguin and it was OK. A bit too bright but the bulb can be dimmed so that shouldn't be an issue. http://www.homedepot.com/Electrical-Light-Bulbs-LED-Light-Bulbs/h_d1/N-5yc1vZbm79Z1z132piZ12kx/R-202188260/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051
  5. I would search google for "two candy canes tied together" and click on images to get just images in the search. Or "two candy canes bow". Lot's of examples. Red could work if you can add some shading to it to get it depth.
  6. I'll toss in: 1. You will want to set the PC so that it automatically logs into the desktop and starts the show software. 2. If you don't have someone who can be there to make the machine is running (thinking power failures). Set your computer, in BIOS, to turn on after a power failure. Not all motherboards support this but it's in power management settings. 3. Set a scheduled job in windows to reboot the PC once a day. That will help keep things running smoothly. 4. If you keep it connected to the Internet look into using gotomypc if you want to remote trouble shoot / make things
  7. Thanks for the advice. I'm still thinking on it but the GF one may win out after reading the replies. That and would be easier to just go and pick on up than hunt around...
  8. I'm finally going to get a Santa w/sleigh and 2-3 Reindeer. Question is beyond personal taste which is a better blow mold? The General Foam set or the Grand Venture? Which holds up and is easier to store as well as display? I plan on suspending the set rising from the ground up to the house. I have a Menards an hour or so away so the GF one isn't a problem. The other would take some effort with ebay / garage sales. Not a problem either way... The Grand Venture one looks easier to store. Is that the case? Thanks Jason
  9. Does anyone know if someone has made a spongebob blowmold? Or is it all just airblowns available? Thanks Jason
  10. The PICS on the Renards 24SS can be programmed to use DMX. That's your best bet with mixing LOR and Renards (I did it last year). You'll need to read up on it as they are wired up different from the LOR. Also The renard removes it's DMX signal from the line instead of passing it along. So either you'll need to split the signal or put the LORs first. The website JeffL directed you to is the best place to start. Here are the technical details on the Renard 24SS. http://doityourselfchristmas.com/wiki/index.php?title=The_Renard_SS24_Controller_Board Jason
  11. Mod podge might work. It can turn t-shirts into ceral bowls, my wife showed me an article on it once. I used it on some christmas stockings I picked up cheap which I plan on using outside this year. You'd have to pick the right formula as there are few different ones. The outdoor formula might do it: http://www.amazon.com/Podge-CS11220-8-Ounce-Glue-Outdoor/dp/B001681ZA4 Here's their website: http://www.plaidonline.com/mod-podge/brand/home.htm
  12. I have zero luck finding anything... Congrats!
  13. Found it - helped to walk away from it for a while. Jars of Clay's version. I was off on how I rememered it. Thanks all.
  14. Definitely not Aly and Aj - it's a male singer.
  15. I don't think it's go fish but it sounds close sort of. The version I remember doesn't haven't the I'll play my drum "rap like" refrain. I do like it though. I might just sequence that song. Then do the other once once I figure it out. I sort of remember the song being like a surprise that it was about the drummer boy.
