  • Christmas 2017 countdown has begun. Most people reveal their displays the day after Thanksgiving. Will you be ready???
  • Why do we love Christmas? It's all about the traditions. In this chaotic world we can miss the "good old days." Christmas reminds us of that time.
  • The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine. A few years later, Pope Julius I officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be celebrated on that day.
  • Santa Claus's sleigh is led by eight reindeer: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Dunder (variously spelled Donder and Donner), and Blixem (variously spelled Blixen and Blitzen), with Rudolph being a 20th-century inclusion.
  • Outdoor Christmas lights on homes evolved from decorating the traditional Christmas tree and house with candles during the Christmas season. Lighting the tree with small candles dates back to the 17th century and originated in Germany before spreading to Eastern Europe.
  • That big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard didn’t always look that way. Prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. When Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

    2010- 90,000 lights, 8 AL controllers
  1. I have a couple of LC-64's that I am not using and willing to sell now if anyone is interested -Joel
  2. Picture from our local historical society of a house in the community decorated for Christmas in the 50's.
  3. Thinking of converting from AL to LOR

I did not have any of my programming converted over.. I changed many things in my show and I just elected to start all over.
  4. Thinking of converting from AL to LOR

I wouldn't hesitate to covert the controllers.. Drew Hickman from Holiday Technolgies coverted over 25 AL controllers from me last year. They are rock solid and perform well. I now have great customer service, software, and many more options. No regrets at all... other than I wish I would have done it several years ago.
  5. I felt your pain!!! Had over 25 of my animated lighting controllers converted over to LOR by Drew Hickman at Holiday Technolgies last spring. I contemplated doing it for a couple of years because of the cost of coverting 25, however best decision I have ever made. Better customer service, better availability, better software...
  6. Larry, I do have a couple of the brick style mb's if your still looking.
  7. Venue and Lodging for Christmas Expo 2016

Just an FYI... I received a discounted rate for booking five nights
  8. My display, 2015

Nice job!!! I like the stream and pond of blue lights.
  9. Anyone have any extra monster brains? I'm just looking for a backup for my display. -Joel
  10. Merry Christmas

    Merry Christmas!!!
  11. My 2014 Display...

    Nice job!! Looks great!
  12. Candy Cane Pvc Mounts

    I use 1/2" sch 40. I usually cut them about 12" long.
  13. Candy Cane Pvc Mounts

I have had good luck using PVC stakes for candy canes. The biggest advantage for me is that the frost doesn't seem to grab on to them as much as the rebar that I was previously using. And we have had lots of frost this year in Michigan!!!
