  1. Has anyone ordered any of these arches? I had actually found them on a site for $9.95 a few weeks ago, and then a week later they had been marked up (I'm pretty sure it was a mistake but I'm kicking myself for not buying a few). Anyway, would love any feedback if you've bought one.
  2. I'm interested in the Two Light-O-Rama controllers CTB 16PC if no one else has spoken up for them.
  3. I'm surprised you had issues with the Big Lots lights... I've had pretty good luck with them, other than the half-wave flicker.
  4. I bought 6 last year, and did each tree a different color. Eventually I'll convert them to multiple colors/channels. For the most part, I've been very pleased with them. I think you will enjoy them as well.
  5. Something like that is exactly what I want to do... although I'm not sure I have enough strands, and I don't know if Home Depot is still selling them. I'd like to maybe put each color on its own channel, but be able to line the yard like that. When you were putting yours together, did you have a lot of problems getting the plastic bulbs to snap shut or the holders tearing up? So I envision outlining the yard with them, and then putting north poles and leaping arches behind them... think that would be too much? **EDIT** Never Mind - I see your leaping arches behind them. SWEET!
  6. I'm thinking of a Mega Tree for next year, and I'm having the same thoughts on number of lights. Eagle5 - how did you actually lay out your lights? Did you do 2 strings of one color followed by 2 strings of the next color? Meaning you have 2 strings of the same color next to each other? Or were you able to alternate the strings, but with two strings being on one channel, you get ever other string lit up? Just trying to get a visual.... could you take a picture and post it when you have it up? Also, could you take a picture of the top on where the strings come together? I'm really clue
  7. Ah, good to know... so I don't need to worry about resisters or anything like that in the plugs.. I could use a standard SPT-1or/2 vampire plug on it, and it should work.
  8. I'm thinking of turning some pathway lights into individuals light strings. These are typically 5-light (C7) strings. I'd like to do this so that I could put each light on its own channel so that I can animate them. What do I need to do in order not to blow the bulb up when doing this? I would assume that a single C7 light plugged into a regular 110v power source would blow the bulb. These are the lights I'm talking about...
  9. The Main Street Electrical Parade - It's about 5 Minutes, 15 Seconds
  10. I have finished my first sequence. I did "We Need a Little Christmas" as sung on Glee a couple years ago. This is a 16 channel sequence. Right now, all I can show off is the LOR Visualizer. But it gives a good idea of how the sequence will look. I'm rather proud and super excited... moving onto my next sequence.
  11. I received my very first LOR today. I took some video of a test run making sure it works. I have a lot of work to do as far as Music Synchronization, but I'll get there. Here's a video of my test: http://youtu.be/8orHgr7f7q8 Very excited! Any tips/suggestions welcomed. I'm glad I only have 16 channels to worry with this year. I'm having a hard enough time figuring out what will be on each channel (and knowing I'm sharing channels too).
  12. How do you manage the power? Do you just zip tie your power cords to the back side of the arch?
  13. I've taken it down to about a 11.5 min show (6 songs). I do like the spiral megatrees.... Any pointers on which articles on here are the best to read first on building them?
  14. I saw a show tonight, and they had 2 mega trees where the lights were put on in a spiral. It was awesome! I definitely want one of those lol.
  15. Did the sale start today? I can't seem to find any of the pre-order items listed with the sale prices.
  16. Thanks everyone, this is really helpful. As far my arches, yeah maybe I'll scale back to 6-channel arches. I was going to have probably around 5 or 6 to go around my front yard. The channels I have for the arches will all be shared.
  17. Yeah, upgrading the power will be taking place in January. I've got to upgrade to a 200amp service. And run a few 30-amp lines (as it looks like that's all LOR sells now, or at least all I seem to come across). Eventually, I"ll probably have to run a separate service just for the Christmas lights lol. I also need to invest in single color lights - most everything I have is multi-color. If I do a mega tree next year, I was going to use the many boxes of c-7 multi's that I got from allthingschristmasandmore.com on the cheap ($5 / 25-count box - commercial grade). I also need to plan w
  18. Thanks for the re-grounding... exactly what I needed! You're right, maybe I'll start with only 32 channels, and grow from there. I'm really thinking of focusing more on the Chipmonk pieces as a) they're usually shorter, and it's easy to pick up the different musical elements for animation.
  19. So I’ve been going through music and putting together a list of songs I want to tackle for the light show next year. I have 19 songs that I definitely want to try to use. This would make about a 45-46 minute show. I also have a list of 6 songs that I may want to do, but probably will not. Am I over stretching? I hope not!!! Need help and guidance... Probably looking at tackling 48 to 64 channels. Definite: Christmas Concerto - Track 7 - The Christmas Trilogy - CD 1 - Trans-Siberian Orchestra - 0:41 Christmas / Sarajevo 12/24 - Track 8 - The Christmas Trilogy - CD 1 - Trans-Siberian Or
  20. Love the CCR and your Mega Tree.... WANT!
  21. I've done a smaller display this year as I'm planning to really jump in next year. Probably about 2300 lights or so. I'm using mostly LEDs, some of which you can see flicker in my video lol Can't wait to make snubbers soon.
  22. I finished my final two coro's tonight. One white, and one Yellow. I connected them to a 3-channel Multi-Function controller with a red tree.... Video is still processing, but hopefully it'll be up soon:
  23. I'm already finding this out! LOL - but it'll be worth it!
  24. How did you put up your Santa and Reindeer... Those are awesome!
  25. Just regular old incandescent lights. 4 100-light strands per tree.
