Net lights for wide areas such as a lawn weatherproof?
Rotatorman replied to xxnonamexx's topic in Lights, Lights, Lights!
Just make sure your connections are tight. If you’re using LED net lights , then your power draw should be ok. Don’t understand why snow is not ok but rain is... You know what looks really nice is when you mix in twinkle net lights, but make sure they match the white light intensity of the ones you own. Look great on a large bush or small tree. HD sells them for 19.95 box. -
That’s the spirit! Christmas only comes around once a year. You don’t want to wait until next year to decorate. Lexington Ohio, between Cleveland and Columbus. Lived in a suburb west of Cleveland until last fall. Better get started before the weather changes. Keep us updated.

Listen here. In my 60’s and have loved Christmas decorating since I saw the animated figures in downtown Cleveland (Higbee’s) when I was just a kid. Presently, we are about to move, just 5 miles, but a bank owns that house, and they are taking their sweet time closing the deal. This puts a move date sometime during December. There will be little or no time to decorate. So I want you to develop a plan for decorating your house, using the lights and displays you own. Develop this plan tonight before you go to sleep. Do it for me, ‘cause I won’t be able to. Take a pic and post it here once it’s set up. Cool.

Just did a little research on these Lumen Play lights. Not available at Apple stores. Reviewers on Amazon Prime suggest not buying them due to difficulties with programming. I saw two boxes available on Amazon but did not understand the pricing. I know you need a starter set to begin with. Youtube people seemed to like them. If I’m putting my $ into a product that I will use for a month every year, I want to ensure it will be supported and will last 3 or 4 seasons. What else is out there similar to Lumen lights?

Anyone get this in the mail recently??
Rotatorman replied to Big J Illinois's topic in Community Wide Announcements From You!
Hey, Big J: if you posted a pic of the book, we cannot see it..... what book? OK, yeah, just found it in your second post. Wow, those prices are too rich for my blood. -
Visited my Wal-mart yesterday and saw a large variety of battery-operated mini lights. So ck out your Wal-mart.

Yeah, I ck’d out that tree. It’s nice, but I couldn’t pull the trigger due to cost. Lowe’s had a similar one 2 years ago, it was bigger. Reviews of people who bought that complained of whole strings not working. If I remember, Lowe’s was priced at 499.00
-
Wow, Rich, pretty thorough with your info. Was wondering if you had used these and would you recommend? Thank you.

Wondering if anyone has any info on a product at Lowe’s made by Illuminations, called the LED LIGHT WIZARD. It has 4 ports to plug in your LED Christmas lights and you can choose 10 different displays. OK for outdoor use. $24.99 @ Lowe’s.

Best source for slip ring or how to make one

Ck out Dynapac Rotating Motors, website, based in Utah. Look under indoor rotators—outdoor ones are $. I have a heavy-duty outdoor rotator. It will outlast me. -
REALLY LIKE THE RED COLOR IN THAT MAILBOX! Hoping I can find it in Florida.

When you are feeling well enough, please update us.

I guess it didn’t work after all—today I’m getting email exchanges between Big J and Slankard. I gotta figure this out.
-
Yes, it seems to have worked. You guys are great, thank you for your help.
-
Thank you Scottrob. I did as you suggested; will wait and see how that works. 👍🏻

Anytime I post a comment to someone else’s post, I’m getting all kinds of responses sent to my personal email. I’m not asking for these responses, but they’re piling up, including responses between two members like Donna and Big J. So how do I stop them?
-
Darn!! What a catch, Big J. I’m always looking for similar offerings, but never this lucky. Just goes to show, it’s never too early for Christmas shopping.

Prange's Department Store Windows Circa 1960
Rotatorman replied to The Blow Mold Expert's topic in Motorized Contraptions
I agree. Shame all that had to come to an end when Higbee’s closed. Seeing those animated displays is what spiked my interest and enthusiasm toward displays that move and entertain. Nothing wrong with lights-only on a house, it’s just that I want something different than my neighbors. Thnx for your response. -
What Christmas song/s do you hate the most?
Rotatorman replied to Tinsel Tunes Podcast's topic in Music of Christmas
Yes, since you asked: I hate ‘Grandma got run over by a reindeer’. -
Prange's Department Store Windows Circa 1960
Rotatorman replied to The Blow Mold Expert's topic in Motorized Contraptions
Yes, absolutely. Higbee’s motto was, ‘We will not be undersold’. They’re long gone, and the Jack Casino is operating in that building. Only a little more than 5 months before we can start decorating again! I’m still in the market for a Santa train blow mold to use with my rotator motor. This is a very heavy-duty motor that was once used to spin and electrify gas station signs, like Sunoco and Shell. Or, if anyone on this forum has a better idea of how to use my motor, I’m open for ideas. -
What are the latest details? Is this still of interest? Have tariffs raised the cost? I’m interested but need to know approximate cost.

For help with your project, have you considered talking to the staff/teachers at your local high school, or technical school? This could be a class project. Would be beneficial for your display and the students who would gain an understanding of electrical and motion. Secondly, trying to time the lid to raise and lower may be difficult. Instead, what about letting the lid open and close with the object (Tigger)? Just limit Tigger from raising too much, and the lid will be ok.
