  1. I use indoor extension cords and have never had a single problem with them. Plus they are much easier to find.
  2. Generally I take down my display when other big displays in the neighborhood take down there's and that's usually between Jan 6th - 8th. I think taking a display down right after Christmas is too early, but after New Years or sometime in Janurary seems appropriate.
  3. There is a hole in the top of my snow globe and some of the balls came out of it. I was wondering where I can buy some of those mini foam balls so more snow is blowing around and so I can replace some of the snow that came out of the globe.
  4. Well, I plan to have some of my display syncronized to music next year. I will need to buy around 5 medium trees, build some more arches, cover the roof with a large message, buy some blowmold toy soldiers to line the driveway and much more. I will also need to buy an FM transmitter and LOR. I plan on buying a christmas tree to be used in the garage where the neighborhood could decorate it. It would be the neighborhood tree. I have lots of plans.
  5. I use plastic grochery bags. I wrap the power strips with 2 bags eachand it seems to work unless it's really pouring down rain.
  6. My display is static in the sense that it isn't syncronized to music, but I have many animated things in the yard, on the houseand windows that are animated.
  7. Yeah, I've entered contests before and haven't won. I think most judges look for simpiler displays with less things in the yard and more lights on the house. I've seen pictures of my competition and I'm still confused as to why I haven't won.
  8. There are only a couple houses that decorate a lot in my neighborhood, but compared to my house they have a small display. More people on my street have decorated this year, but never seem to have all there lights on.
  9. The main problem I see with a lot of computerized displays is that there really aren't that many things in the yard. It's mostly lights on the house and bushes, some trees and deer. There's not much variety like you have with a static display. It's cool to watch the display, but there really isn't much in the yard.
  10. Yeah, I posted about this the other day. This house is 20 minutes from where I live in Ohio. Finally this guy can rest and not worry about having his yard vandalized.
  11. Well, the suspects have been arrested. http://planetchristmas.mywowbb.com/view_topic.php?id=11374&forum_id=13&jump_to=106302#p106302
  12. Where are they located in Ohio? Do you have a link for the display?
  13. Even though my display isn't computerized I still work on it. I'll get new things thatI like and add it to the display. Christmas night is your night to shine with your display so I keep adding things every week. If you add to your display all the time, it will be that much bigger and better the next year.
  14. Yeah, I just saw that. Cincinnati has had problems with displays being vandalized especially the baby Jesus.
  15. Homeowner Sets Up Camera To Catch Holiday Inflatable Vandals Colerain Township is like 20 minutes from where I live. You can tell if you have a bad neighborhood when Christmas displays are vandalized. For the 4 years I've been decorating I haven't had one thing vandalized. The worst I've had happen is a couple bulbs broken due to deer. I think it's terrible when people ruin displays trying to spread a little holiday cheer.
  16. My house is actually starting to get there. I have a huge tree on the other side that I could decorate with thousands of lights.
  17. Here's a picture of my display. Not all of it could be photographed though and I just bought 2 6 foot twinkling trees and put up some extra lights the other day. Christmas music plays nightly.
  18. It seems that the majority of the people on the message board have computerized displays. Is there anyone in here who still does a traditional Christmas display? If so I would love to see some pics.
  19. I went out there today and picked up 2 6 foot twinkling trees for $10 each and some gutter clamps to put up some more ice cycle lights.
  20. I think if you add more blowmolds and some wire frame characters, it will look awesome. I like how the windows are outlined with red.
  21. At least you haven't had deer in your yard. Now they can be destructive.
  22. I don't decorate for the 4th of July, but I have a huge fireworks display at my house.
  23. I don't have much time to decorate for Halloween though since I review haunted houses. My website is www.ohioshaunted.com
  24. I stick to Christmas and Halloween. To make your Halloween Display really stick out, add a fog machine.
  25. I would like to eventually add a Christmas village in the garage where people can walk in and view it. I'm also planning on having my display syncronized to music next year.
