  1. Found this guy for sale recently. Looks more like Harold Gale than Hamberger, but still definitely for this crowd lol. Would love to have him but they're asking $800 for him which seems a little steep to me.
  2. (I tried posting this earlier but I guess it didn't work) A quick google search turned up tons of pictures of their displays and it looks like there's at least a few animated pieces at this store. I'm sure there's more out of the shot as well. I've been meaning to go visit during Christmas time for years but just never have...
  3. Not made by Hamberger, but I ran across this the other day in case anyone was interested. I keep meaning to visit Bass Pro at Christmas time, especially after seeing this... Who knows what else they use! https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cbd/5332353839.html
  4. Was doing some electrical work for some neighbors that I decorate for and while in the basement following conduit from room to room, I came across these guys stored away in a closet. They said they used to move but died out years ago and have been sitting down there ever since. Obviously I asked about acquiring them and he said he's going to ask his wife if she's willing to sell them. Apparently these are Harold Gale pieces. Pretty neat! The soldier has a blue top hat that he wears that's in his box as well.
  5. Well interesting news! I ended up speaking with the gentleman that put together this display and he said that he actually made the entire thing himself based on a Hamberger catalog page! He stumped a bunch of us with his craftsmanship it seems. He said that he would have loved to buy a prefabricated set, but the price was ridiculous for a residential display. I've attached the catalog pages and some more old photographs of the decorations to compare and realize that the house is actually homemade of wood paneling. What a neat display!
  6. I know the sleigh is from a Poloron blow mold set, and I'm pretty sure the elf is from Hamberger, but is the rest of the pieces in the scene from them as well?
  7. Thanks to a member here, I finally got my first Hamberger piece! He's currently a bit rough and mildly creepy, but I'll take care of all of that soon enough! Stay tuned for updates!
  8. Also, if anyone has any of the pieces from these sets, I'd love to see any/all of the pictures and/or videos that you'd be willing to share of them. Thanks again! Keep up the awesome posts!
  9. Holy. Crap. I just spent the better part of the day reading through this entire 45 page thread and wow... I've actually known Darrid for a while now and have been a member here since god knows when, but never just really ventured over to this side as much as I should. I went through a blow mold phase for several years and still pick them up as I come across them but I've sold off most of that collection and now and have moved into the mechanical/commercial displays... The good stuff! After reading through this entire thread and looking at the pictures (or what few remain) I've about doubled my knowledge of these figures in a day! I've actually got some super secret plans I've been working on for this year's display that I feel would go over very well here, but it's still in the planning phases and need some help. I've been looking everywhere for the following types of pictures of the mechanisms in these units but only have the one I took myself. (Ironically while with Darrid a couple weeks ago lol) But if anyone has any of their pieces dismantled at all, I'd really appreciate if you could snap a quick couple shots of the linkages and mechs inside and share here! I figured this has got to be the best place for such a request! I'm trying to see how the various motions are created and converted from a rotating shaft into the various motions. I love everything that's been posted so far and can't wait to see everyone's newest treasures to come!
  10. So now that Christmas is over and I took all my lights back home over break, my dorm room is looking a little plain. So I started thinking, and decided that I wanted to make a wireframe type rendition of the neon signs with the school's logo that all the bars have downtown to hang on my wall. I suppose I could draw the design out on a piece of masonite or coro and poke the lights though or something, but I wanted it to be a little more streamlined and neater looking than that method since it's going to be viewed up close in my room. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to make about a two foot tall version of the picture below?
  11. I too hate the look of led's. I'd love to switch over to them but I don't think they look very merry at all. By the way, I can't see the pictures:(
  12. I'm not big with the inflatables anymore, I mainly just use my big 20 foot snowman now, (And might be selling him soon if anyone's interested) but I do service and deploy several smaller 8 foot ones to some smaller displays that I set up each year and rotate them through. One of these was a 6 foot snowglobe that I'm going to be retiring and dismantling sometime soon and figured that somebody could probably use the "snow" pellets out of it before I throw them away/make a mess in my house if they lost some out of their globe for whatever reason. I think Yardinflatables does sell new bags of them, but I figured if anyone in the Chicago area needs some, I'd check on here first before I threw them away.
  13. Yeah, that's a fiberglass piece for commercial (Or cool residential) displays. Is that yours??
  14. I am on the notification list for those, I just didn't know if/when they would be getting them in. Thanks for pointing that out though, I didn't see that they're supposed to come in this month!
  15. I really apologize for anyone who had contacted me previously expressing interest in these inflatables, some personal family problems came up that I had to take care of first and then I ended up forgetting about these after that had all calmed down. Then when I finally remembered about these over the summer, I had issues with logging back into my account here, so that just pushed it off even more. Thankfully, I am finally able to get back onto the forums now. I do still have all of these pieces available if anyone is still interested as well and I am still trying to get rid of these
  16. Did anyone buy the 10 foot Lounging Snowman that was sold from various retailers last season? It's the one that's laying down with his head on his hand, and I've also seen it referred to as the "Seductive" or "Sexy" snowman, but I can't find many pictures of them. I was wondering if anyone on here owns one or had any experience with them as I'm considering using one for a side project this Christmas. Pictures of them on display are also appreciated if anyone has some of those as well. Another problem I'm having with them is trying to find one.. YardInflatables.com had them last year, but they're currently out of stock, so aside from the inflated prices on eBay, I can't really find them anywhere else. Does anyone have one they're looking to sell? I have a bunch of inflatables I'm trying to get rid of, so trades are also an option. Thanks in advance!
  17. Yeah, actually I did. I had a few defects on mine, but the seller was good about it and we were able to work something out. I also had to add a few new loops for tethers because I'm a little picky about that stuff. The main pair was placed in the neck, and I believe that's the worst place to put them, other than on the head, because if you put any tension on them, the neck crumples down and the head tilts. I also had several put around the bottom so it doesn't rotate. But again, that's just me. I am also looking into adding a scarf like the Gemmy versions have so I'll be sure to post that if I get around to it this year as well. If you're not majorly OCD about everything like I am, and there are no major defects in the craftsmanship, then you should be good to go right out of the box. I'd highly reccomend it, it's much larger than the 6' version. The seller is also a pleasure to work with, I will definitely consider ordering from them next time I need an inflatable.
  18. I have found the original blower that belongs to the helicopter in case that changes anyone's mind. And anyone who is waiting on shipment info or quotes from me, I still haven't forgotten about it, it's just been really crazy around here, especially with Halloween coming up, so if you could just wait another day or two, I'd really really appreciate it! I'll get to it as soon as I possibly can and I promise you'll have them before Christmas!
  19. Mickey and Soldier are pending sale. Rotating Globe and Animated Helicopter are still for sale.
  20. I've decided that I'm going to get the 10' Turkey this year, but for me to get that one, unfortunately I have to let a few of my other ones go. They are all in great shape. I've been displaying inflatables for every holiday for the last 11 years, and still have my original 2001 models, so I take great care of mine. I'm keeping those, but I'm selling a few newer ones that are either brand new or only used for 1 or 2 seasons. These have been in storage for the last few years, I cut myself down to only 1 a holiday, so these have just been taking up space. The boxes are a little worn from storage, but the actual inflatables inside them are in great shape. Any broken parts on the used ones have been completley repaired and they are ready to be displayed. I'm hoping the prices are reasonable, if not, message me and hopefully we can figure something out. I have Paypal if anyone would like to pay that way. I have: 8' Soldier (Used two years) - $30 (A very cold and windy December a few years ago broke some of the clips on the bottom but they have been repaired) 6' Rotating Globe (Used one year) - $35 (Vinyl is a little dirty, just needs to be washed) 8' Mickey Caroler (Used two years) - $45 **Apparently my camera decided to delete the pictures of Mickey. I'll try to get some more soon, but you can see him on the box for now. 8' Animated Helicopter (Brand New) - $75 (Apparently I relocated the original blower for this one sometime between when I bought it and now, so I'm including the one from my 20' snowman, which as you can see, works just as well. If I can find the real one before someone buys it, I will include it instead.) The Boxes:
  21. The repaint looks fantastic! What parts exactly are you missing, maybe you can fabricate something similar?
  22. I haven't been in this side of the forums for a looooonngggg time! The blowmolders sucked me in following many years with the inflatables a while ago lol. After I was converted to plastic, I didn't buy an inflatable for quite some time and only put up one, at the most, for each holiday on the isolated strip on the other side of the driveway... That is until a few years ago when I bought my 20' Snowman. I had told myself "no more!" but that one was just too cool to pass up, and it's been a neighborhood favorite ever since! So here I am a few years later and I think I've found another one: The 10 Foot Turkey. I just saw him online at yardinflatables.com and the bug bit me again. I already have the 8' standing pilgrim turkey that I usually plop dead center in the lawn every year for a nice, simple display, but I think he's about to get bumped to the other side of the driveway so I can put this beast in his place this year. It sounds like Yard Inflatables and their Inflatable Greetings line has a great reputation, so I have no problem ordering from them, I just wanted to know if anyone else has already bought one of these turkeys and could post some pictures & opinions about theirs before I get mine. Originally I was going to get their Pilgrim pair, but then I saw this one and noticed that it was actually cheaper, so I think I'll go with him instead. Any thoughts? http://www.yardinflatables.com/Inflatable-10-Turkey_p_1175.html **Oh, and when I was at the peak of my inflatable collecting obsession was when abrubtly stopped, so I have a few new and 1-season-used inflatables that have been in storage since, and am probably going to be selling off of anyone is interested.
  23. Hey guys, so I bought one of the big Santa's Best Santa's Best Santas over the summer to use in a simple display at a non-profit organization I volunteer at, and for some reason I'm just really starting to not like him too much anymore lol. There's nothing wrong with it aside from a couple scratches on one of the gloves and his boot and the little tabs on the back of the light plate that hold the fixture are broken off. The original light fixture is still there though, it's just tied on now but I can think of 10 different/better ways to re-attach it. And also I believe the yellows are a little faded as well, but other than that, it's in pretty good shape. I even have the original instruction papers and stakes for him too. He's got all his eyes and additional push-in pieces as well so he's actually not too bad at all. I only have one picture of him right now that I took with my phone when I first got him, but when I go back to the organization's building on Friday I can get a bunch more. American Sale carries the same one this year so maybe in the mean time you can check out a better look at him there: http://www.americans...on__941662.aspx So basically I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to trade him for a Union List Santa & the matching snowman or Mrs. Claus instead because I'd much rather have those molds much more than this one, and our organization helps quite a few seniors, so the more "classic" look of the Union's would probably be more appreciated by them as well. I saw some going on Ebay for like $10-$15 so they're not too uncommon or expensive either. It seems like everyone has one but I can never manage to track them down lol. I'd love to have one Santa and two of the snowmen so that I could put one inside the building next to the Christmas tree as well, but I might be pushing my luck there lol. Ideally someone locally would probably be best because shipping these things across the country might be a bit of a hassle and added expense for just something like this but we'll see what we can do. BTW: If you don't have a pair of the Unions but want the Santa and have something(s) you want to get rid of, let me know, maybe they'll work for what I had planned just as well. Whew, sorry that was such a long post, thanks for reading all that!
  24. Brand new vacucel carolers: http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/gms/3325572802.html He says he's got "lighted Angels" too so I assume they're also vacucels, probably in new condition as well.
  25. Thanks everybody! I didn't really need the candles, but for being in such great shape, I just couldn't pass them up! There aren't even any scratches on the bottom so it looks like they were never displayed! And Drac's nose took 30 secconds with the end of a screw driver handle and he's as good as new!
