  1. I'm just curious as to how people design their layouts. I read somewhere, I think on this forum, that some separate their layout into "groups of four". How do you design yours?
  2. Bellagio poles, firesticks, VU meters, light jets ... whatever you call them, what dimensions are you using, (how long) and how many channels?

    Green C-7 ?

Need advice on where to order green C-7 strands ...incandescent?
  4. Does anyone know how you can use a buzz box to repair net lights?
  5. Making c7-c9 ... does the cord need to be spt1 or spt2 ... or does it matter?
  6. Is there anywhere that I can get a specific length of light string .... c-7's or, really, any type? Thanks, Tom
  7. This is my first attempt at arches. I will appreciate it if anybody wants to share 7, 8 or 9 segment arch sequencing. Thank you for your time and trouble. Tom
  8. I'm new at adding arches. What are your thoughts as to number of segments and odd or even number of segments? What are your reasons? Thanks
  9. @ neatfreak, This is my first year doing arches and I, too, would like your sequences for 8 channel arches. I sent you an email but I'm not sure you got it. Thank you
  10. Refresh my memory. What is the reason for using spt-2 over spt-1 ... besides the thickness of the insulation?
  11. Where are we buying our spt-2 zip plugs this year?
  12. Haven't been on the site much lately but thought I would be contacted since I live here in Brandon ... guess I'm persona non grata. Can someone let me know the "where" and "what"? Thank you, Tom
  13. I have a flip ... only trouble is feeding audio in. Any suggestions?
  14. I didn't know where else to post this question, so here goes. I'm going to start looking for a video camera for next year. I don't want to break the bank, but I do want a decent video of my show. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks, Tom

    Black/Buzz Box

Oh, my ... hooray for the Black/Buzz/Magic/Secret/Miracle/ (fill in the blank) Box! I got one last year but didn't use it much. This year is different, as I'm learning how to use it efficiently, and ... oh my! Well worth the cost, as everyone told me it would be.
  16. How 'bout that? I should be working with Chinese quality control ... never noticed that the length was actually printed on the box ... in English, too. Thanks for pointing that out. It's the little things that I learn that really make this a great site. Tom
  17. Anybody else notice that a lot of the mini-light strings are shorter? The new ones that I got at my local Walmart are definitely shorter than the old ones ... even the old ones that were still in the boxes. That's Chinese quality control for you.
  18. Slow going but I'm way ahead of last year, my first year. It's amazing how quickly you learn how long things take. I've redesigned my set and have expanded a little. Once your involved in this ... there's no way you can be content with the status quo.
  19. Very educational group of replies. This is my second season ... I'm old, but not a seasoned veteran. Last year I made enough rookie miscalculations to last a lifetime. You can teach an old dog new tricks ... I learned. I had planned to be set-up by Thanksgiving but 7 days before Christmas I was still making extension cords ... LOL, that ain't happening again. This year I've started laying out (and checking) all of my cords, by length, and checking my lights with the "buzz box". This is my "general" plan: * check cords and lights * put up roof lights * put up (live) tree lights * wrap
  20. I'm just curious at the various ways folks approach setting up their displays. What comes first and what do you save for last ... and, now that we're through with Halloween, when do you start setting up? Do you start by putting up your mega trees, or making mini trees, or wrapping bushes and trees ... what order do you do things in?
  21. @ bigred7469 Topper is 2" x 6" circle with 16 hooks, bolted to a pvc plug attached to a pvs coupler Thanks
  22. I too am a first year mega-tree-er. Mine will be 10 feet tall made of 2 inch pvc, 4 colors/16 - 100 count blue minis-8 channels/8 strings red - 1 channel/8 strings green-1 channel/ 8 strings clear-1 channel. Having said that, if I use the dog stakes as anchors, how do I attach to the pvc pole?
  23. Now, I've been wrapping bushes for decades ... first with static displays and now with LOR sequences. I've used various "systems". I've used the "walking around the bush" method, the "back to front/side to side" method, and now, since I learned about "stacking" from our forum, I stack the strands and put them on individually, instead of in one loooonnnng strand. Somehow, there's always a gap or unbalanced look ... not quite "there" look. I haven't used nets because I don't like the look ... too perfect. Also, I'm a cheapskate and I don't want to buy all of the new nets I'd need. I am consider
