  1. ahh very good question....You will get your best results actually placing the flod about 3 feet off the ground and usually about 5 to 7 ft  from the wall surface depending flood tyoe , LEDS used in the flood etc,  AS far how far apart most good fllods will cover about 10 to 12 feet wide with solid color..Again that all dpeends onthe LEDs used and the degree of ourput from the device....

  3. I tried to e-mail you from the store but it bounced. I wanted to get set-up information and what was required for using the 12v Hypercolor with LOR. I'd want to make sure I purchased all the parts and had an understanding of how they went together.

No Problem Brian, if you are using s3 its as simple as using a USB485 to feed the DMX to the Modules..... I should have a good stock in shortly.... I can be found over on Face book pretty easily... Yes I know about the email and I am sorry it bounced....and I am fixing it...

All of my assembled Demo Units I have at ICE will be for sale..

This unit has a VFLOOD along with the "Luxeon Rebel Star Project" ( $50 worth of LEDS alone) , 12 amp power supply, and enclosure. This package will sell for $125.

    17-89-thickbox.jpg

I am currently finishing a 6 Star VDRIVE Package. It will have a 24v 10amo Power supply, in the same enclosure. $135,( I will post images as soon as possible..)

2 ORIGINAL XMAS floods.. yes these are the 2 orginals that started all the "constant current" controversy, but proved it was the correct technology . They have 3 Luxeon Rebel Stars LEDS...I will no longer need them for my display. I will also include a tool to set the channels. $250 for the pair!

  6. sorry but I should have stated initially that these are assembled cards from the vendor. I have not tested them or tried to power them on. I bought them assembled and have not done anything further with them. Thanks! The power supply also is from the same vendor and states that it should be sufficient to power all 5 vdrive/flood combos.

And I will gladly up the ante to help one of my customers... about mid July/early August, I am planning a code update to the processor on the VDRIVE. What it will change I am not disclosing at this time. But who ever purchases these units I will glady flash the update to them for just the cost of shipping both ways once the flash is available. The processors can be shipped back and forth for just a few dollars. I will also honor the warranty thru the first season as stated on my webpage to the new owner...

I will also vouch that the units are fully tested personally by me, and the power supply will operate all 5 units.

  9. Hey Everyone..

I wanted to add this for customers that have the Mighty Mini boards that want that little extra "Ummphh" for them.

There is a VDRIVE for the Mighty Mini!

    http://www.twodoglightstore.com/product.php?id_product=20

VDRIVA is a modified board just for the Mighty Mini. You do have to modify the Mighty Mini and remove those pesky current limiting resitors that have been holding your LEDS back. From past experiences with customers that used MM's I also suggesting changing the mix of CW and WW LEDS to either ALL Cool White, ALL Warm white, or really go outside of the box.. AMBER!

The VDRIVA is listed at $49.99. This is a limited time offer for PC members and will end March 31!

Use voucher code PCVDRIVA for each unit ordered and the price will drop to 39.99!! This is for a 99% assembled and tested unit! (yes I have a mockup up of a MM for testing @24volts!) Please put your PC name in the comments area.

    * I am also including a free blank VFLOOD board and matching resistors for the CCDs in case you want to change to a VFLOOD design, (LEDS not included, and you will have to change your input power to 12vDC)

Just another bright way to get your decorating projects off to a great start for 2011!!

  10. What software can be use to control the Vfloods?

    Hello aaron..

VDRIVE/VFLOOD is a 512 channel DMX based device..

Any current software that is capable of operating DMX will work fine.

There have been some recent comparisons between the different approaches in software and how the interface.

.. here are the ones I am familiar with. Maybe others can chime in and give a few more details ( Please keep it specific to interfacing DMX)

LOR S2.. currently with an additional iDMX interface, but LOR is coming with a lower cost alternative. I myself use LOR S2 and an iDMX.

LSP is also capable, but not sure of what adapters or addition interfaces may be needed in order for proper connection..

There may be more as well..

  12. What cases do you use for the V Floods? Any comparisons to the Mighty Mini? I am thinking I could get the Minis in a better position with their smaller size. The rainbow flood in the 550 watt case is fairly large and awkward.

As Tim mentioned most are using small cased worklights or Halogen flood housings... VFLOOD board is actually smaller than the MM, and has more LEDS! There is a thread somewhere on PC where someone made housings for floods with PVC fencepost. I am planning on making another "All in one housing" DEMO out of the fence post. (rumor is I might even give that one away at ICE!)

there is an entire thread on VDRIVE/VFLOOD that shows some of the housings that it can fit in here on PC..

Any new product info fr VDRIVE VFLOOD can be found at the link Tim posted above..

    Fellow PCer's!

I am proud to announce the introduction of 2 DIY products for the decorating community! These are the first of many to come!

    VDRIVE and VFLOOD!

    20-67-large.jpg

VDRIVE is a 4 channel constant current LED driver board primarily designed to power VFLOOD. VDRIVE is designed to work with voltages up to 24v DC also, making it capable of complimenting other DIY products as well. Constant Current topology is the key to powering the high output LEDs we are seeing in many DIY products! VDRIVE will not need those pesky resistors that have plagued many DIY projects in the past. Constant Current topology does not care how far away the LEDS are from the driver board. It will always supply the correct current. Current limiting simply cannot do this! VDRIVE is also small (3.5" x 2.25"), it may even fit inside the housing with your LED project!

Click here for more information on VDRIVE

VDRIVE is available now for preorder with a estimated ship date of the boards to customers around mid/late June.

    VFLOOD

    DSC01560.JPG

VFLOOD is a LED wall-wash/flood product with a few innovations. The LEDs are configured in Geometrically Designed Mixing Pattern (GDMP). Most flood designs arranged the colors in a way that are easy to wire and manufacture a board for, but lining up LEDS, or making circular patterns doesn't always produce the best color mixing capability. The LEDs in VFLOOD are arranged in geometric patterns that help maximize even distribution of colors and enhance RGB color mixing. This also creates a reduction of the Middle hotspot and smoothes the edges of RGB White usage with the White LEDS placed at the perimeter of the VFLOODS luminance field.

VFLOOD uses 15 each of RED,BLUE GREEN, along with 12 COOLWHITE. More LEDS=More light output.

VFLOOD is designed to operated at 12v DC with VDRIVE! VFLOOD is not designed with current limiting resistors!

VFLOOD is available for preorder NOW, with a estimated ship date of the boards to customers around mid/late June.

Click Here for more information on VFLOOD

If you have questions on these products, please feel free to contact me by using the contact link on the webpage or click here

  14. I was until I found out I could not get vacation time that weekend, but the next weekend was free, so I was thinking (which my wife always says is dangerous) it would be nICE to take a Roadtrip and visit my birthplace I have never seen, Crawdfordsville which is right by Indianapolis.

Wouldn't you know it, there is a gathering of Christmas decorators that particular weekend in the area. I wonder if I can crash it without offending anyone....Besides growing up in the south (actually the same town Darlene Pino now lives) I know Gatlinburg is not the best place to be on a holiday weekend and not on my top places to visit (been there more times than I really want to admit to).

  15. leave the dial at default, there is no need to actually move it.

when you create the shows on your card name them "show 1", "show 2", " show3"

make the shows start and stop at different times, If you do like I do, have a "static" show to run for a short time before the main starts, leave a minute between the shows.

    for example

    show 1

    start 5pm stop 5:59pm

    show 2

    sun-thur

    start 6pm to 9:59pm

    fri sat 6pm to 10:59pm

    show 3

    sun-thur

    start 10pm to 11pm

    fri sat 11pm to 12pm

You can actually make it do differfent sequences at different times if you like, just make a new show # and times.. I found that If you don't lave that minute gap, it doens't play nicely for some reason.

If you would like more info just PM me..

  16. What is the preferred method to wash a house in color if you are just using a basic LOR system? Will the LED rainbow floods work? Or maybe multiple LED floods in different colors? Need advice from the more experienced here!

And where do you get these?

Check my webstore for info on led floods. I will be posting 2011 preorder specials shortly on the website.

  17. I have one string of lights purchased this year with a tag left on... It is a FW 70ct c6 green on white wire and the model # is E305455 Model TSD-35-2. I have these same lights in 50 and 100 ct and they are all shining bright and working fine. These lights have the single "blob" at the start, one in the middle and one at the end. The 100ct have 4 "blobs"

The E305455 is actually the UL Code. The "Blobs" are the rectifier bridge for the lights. These "blobs" are usually 2 diodes and a resistor. On most full wave sets like you are describing you will have 2 blobs on a 50 count red, and 3 on other colors splitting the string into 2 sets of "25". On 70 ct or100ct strings you will see the them as sets of "33,34, or 35". This is determined by the forward voltage of the LEDS

I have lost 3 half-sets of FW 70ct 5mm red on green wire this year. These lights have the single "blob" at the start, one in the middle and one at the end.

Same above splliting up the lights in sets of 35.

I also lost one half-set of 3 year old HW 50ct m5 green. These were the first Holiday Creations lights I have ever had fail.

I have sets that are in their 3rd year also, keep reading below about manufactuers/vendors.

Last year I lost over 13 sets of FW 70ct 5mm orange and 5 sets of FW 70ct 5mm blue. These lights had the two "blobs" at the start of the string and one "blob' at the end.

I think I know who manufactuers those, but would have to see an image of the ends. There is another "blob" but may be concealed as simular to a bulb base.

I think the actual manufacturer matters more than the vendor you get the led lights from. If you really want the lowest failure rate possible Holiday Creations brand is the way to go...but it will cost ya.

Just remember these are electronic parts, and they do go bad. Light Emitting Diodes are a DC semiconductor we are running with AC current. Over all they are extermly reliable. Most of these lights are coming from minimal actual manufactuers in China.(yes Diogen/holiday creations is purchasing from the same sources as others if you followed this thread and took note of the UL codes mentioned before.)

I am working on a way to do some simple testing and find where the failure occured in the LED strings, then how to fix them easily. This will be helpful when these strings pass their warranty. I have about 12 strings ( from this same manufactuer) myself over the past 3 years. I have been able to fix a few of them just by sheer luck of isolating the issue quickly, finding that the problem was in the solder joint in the bulb base. The only way to repair is to carefully "nip" away at the plastic until you can peal it all off, reflow the joint, then encase it back in epoxy( a MCDonalds soda straw and masking tape works best) . The issue is find to which LED is having the issue, and if its not the LEDS which rectfier bridge is bad. More to come when I have the method down to an art.

  18. You can have multiple shows on an SD card, depending on your definition of a show. For example, I run a static sequence that changes color every minute or so from 5pm to 7 pm. From 7pm to 10pm, I run an animated show. From 10 to 11, it back to the static show. If doing this using a computer, I would have to make two shows, one static and one animated, with the static show running twice a night. This can be duplicated using the MP3 director. Some might call this one show on the card, but it's not. It even supports a "startup" sequence, in case you have to blow up an inflatable or you want to run something only once at the beginning, whatever it is. What the MP3 director does not allow is a background sequence. I use a background sequence to keep my sign lit in between songs (it never goes out) and to keep my one and only inflatable inflated (ugh). That's really the big item missing in the director. You might be able to live with the sign built into a sequence (where it would go on and off as each sequence is played) and put an external timer on the inflatable (and the sign for that matter - or anything else that needs constant power), I just chose not to do that.

Other than that, the director is great...

I use the DC-MP3 in a very simular manor as Ed. But as noted it won't turn on background items, so I just use a timer to turn on and off my radio station sign and FM transmitter 15 minutes prior to the main show and 15 minutes after the show ends...

Just remember as others have said...
